* Nominees still exist from June 2012, and will announce winners in the next few
weeks
6.6 KPR ETFO Priorities 2012/13 (as proposed)
Engaging Members

Enhancing the status and profile of elementary teachers and education workers
6.6.1 Motion to add “to protect the collective bargaining rights of all members”

7.1 Awards (Cara)
* Committee chair Cara Fisher appointed tonight
* No report
7.2 Collective Bargaining (Dave)
* CBC Team is meeting this Friday, Sept. 21 st at Elmhirst’s
* hoping to get local language, around local issues, bargained at these meetings
* KPR ETFO will NOT sign any agreement that includes the
strips that are imposed through BILL 115
* Motion that the Executive support Dave in writing a response to the Jim Hendry
Peterborough Examiner editorial letter written on September 13 th

7.3 E I P (Christy)
- No meetings have occurred yet, but will be set soon
- A number of EIP applications have already been received.
7.4 Political Action (Bill)
- No meeting yet
- P.A. committee will be a meeting prior to the October Steward retreat
- Rally at MPP Jeff Leal’s office on Friday, September 15 th went well and was
well attended by local ETFO members – may consider this type of “meeting” on a
more regular basis in the future
- Motion to purchase 2000 “bracelets”, with a simple message as something to
continue to unify our Local Bill, Sharon / carried
– Motion to purchase using money to be split through the Political Action (Line
452) / Status of Women (Line 482) committees Bill, Sharon / carried
- exploring the idea of encouraging ETFO members to consider purchasing a
membership to the NDP party
- 50 spots remain for radio ads. to be used in Peterborough area, targeting MPP
Leal – waiting for approval from head office before running the ads
7.5 Equity (Darline)
- Committee will meet on September 19 th , and always looking for new members
- committee will adopt a “focus” for this year, which will be decided on at the
first meeting
- Our Local (with Provincial backing) will be supporting “Take Back the Night”
walk @ 7pm, Thursday, Sept.20 th

7.6 Professional Development (Darline)
- Committee will meet Thursday, Sept. 20 th and is always looking for new
members
- Initial focus will be around “Week Without Violence” initiative
- KPR Board will be sending out an invite to an October 16 th (daytime)
documentary film for students in Grades 7-9 – no cost
- To further this initiative, KPR ETFO will support in-school workshops through
COPA on October 17 th at Kenner Int. and at Prince of Wales
- Moving ahead (with Board support) looking into some Teacher Performance
Appraisal workshops for teachers, both new and experienced
- Kindergarten AQ course – New Part I, is moving forward on Mondays
- Steward Retreat planning is moving ahead – some excellent workshops are
being planned and organized for the October 18 th date
7.7 Social (Dave)
* Tickets for “War Horse” in Toronto have been purchased for a late October,
Saturday show – more details to follow
*some ideas were discussed for possible events this year – OHL Generals hockey
game, AHL Marlies game, T.G.I.F. days, plays coming to T.O.
* members are encouraged to forward suggestions for possible KPR ETFO social
events
7.8 Status of Women (Sharon)
- first meeting will be October 3 rd , 4pm @ John M. James P.S.
- request for donation from a team of teachers, who will be attending the Run For
The Cure this weekend
- Motion to make a donation of $100 to ‘Team Candy’ for the Cure for Cancer
walk in Bowmanville (Line 485) – Sharon, Suzanne / carried
8.0 Other Business
8.1 Release Time for Stewards
* table discussion around the parameters of releasing Stewards / Co-stewards for ETFO
meetings – Pros and Cons were brought forward by Executive
* Motion for KPR ETFO Steward release policy to be one steward per site, and any
additional released stewards be at the discretion of the President – Bill, Linda / carried
8.2 Steward Retreat – Wed. October 17 th (evening) and Thurs. October 18 th (all day)
* NDP Leader Andrea Horvath has been cordially invited by Dave, but her
attendance has not been confirmed!!!
