7.1 Awards (Cara)<br />

* Committee chair Cara Fisher appointed tonight<br />

7.2 Collective Bargaining (Dave)<br />

* CBC Team is meeting this Friday, <strong>Sept</strong>. 21 st at Elmhirst’s<br />

* hoping to get local language, around local issues, bargained at these meetings<br />

* <strong>KPR</strong> <strong>ETFO</strong> will NOT sign any agreement that includes the<br />

strips that are imposed through BILL 115<br />

* Motion that the Executive support Dave in writing a response to the Jim Hendry<br />

Peterborough Examiner editorial letter written on <strong>Sept</strong>ember 13 th<br />

7.3 E I P (Christy)<br />

- No meetings have occurred yet, but will be set soon<br />

- A number of EIP applications have already been received.<br />

7.4 Political Action (Bill)<br />

- No meeting yet<br />

- P.A. committee will be a meeting prior to the October Steward retreat<br />

- Rally at MPP Jeff Leal’s office on Friday, <strong>Sept</strong>ember 15 th went well and was<br />

well attended by local <strong>ETFO</strong> members – may consider this type of “meeting” on a<br />

more regular basis in the future<br />

- Motion to purchase 2000 “bracelets”, with a simple message as something to<br />

continue to unify our <strong>Local</strong> Bill, Sharon / carried<br />

– Motion to purchase using money to be split through the Political Action (Line<br />

452) / Status of Women (Line 482) committees Bill, Sharon / carried<br />

- exploring the idea of encouraging <strong>ETFO</strong> members to consider purchasing a<br />

membership to the NDP party<br />

- 50 spots remain for radio ads. to be used in Peterborough area, targeting MPP<br />

Leal – waiting for approval from head office before running the ads<br />

7.5 Equity (Darline)<br />

- Committee will meet on <strong>Sept</strong>ember 19 th , and always looking for new members<br />

- committee will adopt a “focus” for this year, which will be decided on at the<br />

first meeting<br />

- Our <strong>Local</strong> (with Provincial backing) will be supporting “Take Back the Night”<br />

walk @ 7pm, Thursday, <strong>Sept</strong>.20 th


7.6 Professional Development (Darline)<br />

- Committee will meet Thursday, <strong>Sept</strong>. 20 th and is always looking for new<br />

members<br />

- Initial focus will be around “Week Without Violence” initiative<br />

- <strong>KPR</strong> Board will be sending out an invite to an October 16 th (daytime)<br />

documentary film for students in Grades 7-9 – no cost<br />

- To further this initiative, <strong>KPR</strong> <strong>ETFO</strong> will support in-school workshops through<br />

COPA on October 17 th at Kenner Int. and at Prince of Wales<br />

- Moving ahead (with Board support) looking into some Teacher Performance<br />

Appraisal workshops for teachers, both new and experienced<br />

- Kindergarten AQ course – New Part I, is moving forward on Mondays<br />

- Steward Retreat planning is moving ahead – some excellent workshops are<br />

being planned and organized for the October 18 th date<br />

7.7 Social (Dave)<br />

* Tickets for “War Horse” in Toronto have been purchased for a late October,<br />

Saturday show – more details to follow<br />

*some ideas were discussed for possible events this year – OHL Generals hockey<br />

game, AHL Marlies game, T.G.I.F. days, plays coming to T.O.<br />

* members are encouraged to forward suggestions for possible <strong>KPR</strong> <strong>ETFO</strong> social<br />

events<br />

7.8 Status of Women (Sharon)<br />

- first meeting will be October 3 rd , 4pm @ John M. James P.S.<br />

- request for donation from a team of teachers, who will be attending the Run For<br />

The Cure this weekend<br />

- Motion to make a donation of $100 to ‘Team Candy’ for the Cure for Cancer<br />

walk in Bowmanville (Line 485) – Sharon, Suzanne / carried<br />

8.0 Other Business<br />

8.1 Release Time for Stewards<br />

* table discussion around the parameters of releasing Stewards / Co-stewards for <strong>ETFO</strong><br />

meetings – Pros and Cons were brought forward by Executive<br />

* Motion for <strong>KPR</strong> <strong>ETFO</strong> Steward release policy to be one steward per site, and any<br />

additional released stewards be at the discretion of the President – Bill, Linda / carried<br />

8.2 Steward Retreat – Wed. October 17 th (evening) and Thurs. October 18 th (all day)<br />

* NDP Leader Andrea Horvath has been cordially invited by Dave, but her<br />

attendance has not been confirmed!!!
