Fire Management
Fire may be a useful management tool to
maintain the health of the grassland, reduce
biomass and encourage the growth of
Swainsona.
Controlled burning is not required for asset
protection purposes.
Management Operations
Management facilities consist of fences.
These are in good order.
There are no management trails in the
reserve.
Healthy grassland and increased
numbers of Swainsona.
Life, property and natural and
cultural values are protected from
wildfire
Fences are maintained in good
condition to exclude livestock.
No trails will be constructed

• Burning to reduce biomass may be
used where biomass exceeds 5–7
tonnes per hectare.
• No more than 25% of the reserve will
be burnt in any calendar year.
• The response of Swainsona to a
burning event will be monitored and
assessed before any further burning is
conducted.
• Wildfires will be contained and
suppressed in conjunction with
neighbours and fire authorities.
• The fences will be inspected at least
annually and maintained in good order.
• Vehicular access to the reserve will be
permitted for essential authorised
management purposes only.
