three vieWs on the neW testament Use of
the old testament
STANLEY N. GuNdrY, SErIES EdITOr; KENNETH BErdING ANd
JONATHAN LuNdE, GENErAL EdITOrS
Three prominent scholars — Darrell L. Bock, Walter C. Kaiser, and Peter
Enns — detail their positions on how the Old Testament relates to the New
Testament, a topic of significant interest today. Their presentations include substantial
discussion of instances where the New Testament authors discern the
fulfillment of a prophetic element in the Old Testament text. The nature of fulfillment
and typology are also discussed. Each contributor addresses such important
issues as methodology, context, and modeling.
Finally, each contributor offers three examples of complex use of the Old
Testament by New Testament authors, giving readers the opportunity to compare
the respective approaches “in action.”
Kenneth berding (PhD, Westminster Theological Seminary) and Jonathan
lUnde (PhD, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) are professors at Talbot School
man and Woman, one in Christ
an exegetical and theological study of paul’s letters
pHILIp B. pAYNE
Payne’s exegetical examination of the Pauline corpus explores the influences on
Paul, his practice as a church leader, and his teachings to various Christian communities.
Paul’s theology, instruction, and practice consistently affirm the equal
standing of men and women, with profound implications for the church today.
Condensing over three decades of research on this topic, Man and Woman, One
in Christ is required reading for all who desire to understand the meaning of Paul’s
statements regarding women and their relevance for Christian relationships and
ministry today. This work has the potential of uniting the Church on this contentious
issue.
