Ocean currents, their driving forces and land sea-air interaction are some of
the major topics of interest in physical oceanography. A large amount of data on
the variations in temperature, salinity, pressure, wind speed and direction, movement
of the watermasses was collected employing various methods/equipment from the
ship, moored or drifting current meter systems.
During the year, an oeeanographic and meteorological data buoy was moored
from R.V. Gaveshani off Goa in the Arabian Sea. Various instruments for measuring
Profiling current meter developed at NIO.
