“This is the first one of its kind in the country
and we are very excited to be showing it off
here at Detling,” said Kris Romney, AMS
product specialist for Burden Bros Agri. “The
8000 series is packed with high tech equipment
that provides maximum automation
and efficiency as well as meeting the newest
emissions standards.”
Alongside the Tier 4 8000 series, which will
be available to order from this summer for a
2012 delivery, Kris has brought a wide selection
of other John Deere machines, from the
5000 series through to the 8000, as well as
an 855d Gator utility vehicle.
“We are showing a new Gregoire Besson
plough unveiled this year and a host of other
equipment,” said Kris, who said he thought
the Agri-Expo (SE) event was “a fantastic
idea for this area.” He added: “It will be
really interesting to see how the show takes
off and we at Burden Bros are really excited
about supporting it from the beginning and
helping to make it a fantastic show.”
His comments were echoed by Chris Smith,
who stressed: “This really is a show that has
something for everyone and we are very
excited to be here at the showground. Lots
of exhibitors have been saying that this is
the opportunity they have been waiting
for.”
For those manufacturers that are watching
from the sidelines this time, the big question
is whether or not the organisers expect
this to become an annual event – and the
answer to that one seems pretty clear.
“Absolutely,” said Chris. “We have been
amazed at the response to this first event and
it really has convinced us of the need for a
South East-based show dedicated to showing
farmers and landowners what’s new in agricultural
and horticultural machinery.
“We are delighted with the way we have
had such great support from our partners
at the showground to pull this first show
together and I see no reason why it should
not become a permanent fixture in the
farming calendar, particularly if we get the
support we are expecting from the agricultural
community.”
As well as Burden Bros Agri, exhibitors
here at Detling include Farmplan, McVeigh
Parker, Teagle Machinery, Cole Agri-build,
Househam Sprayers, Lambert & Foster,
Hadlow College, Southern Harvesters and
Complete Land Management.
Banks, land agents, technology specialists
and feed merchants are on hand to provide
advice and discuss their wares, but for many
it will be the new equipment for 2011 – like
the John Deere Tier 4 machine – that will be
turning heads.
The showground’s executive manager Roger
Moore shares Chris Smith’s hopes that
RAMSAK members from across the region
will turn out in force to make this first event
a huge success.
“We have the potential to attract visitors
from as far afield as Hampshire, Essex, West
Sussex and Surrey and I hope that the agricultural
community will make the most
of this opportunity to see what’s new in
farming,” he said.
There are new products on offer from companies
including Claydon Yield-O-Meter Ltd
and AVT Imports and machinery on display
from the likes of Southern Harvesters,
Bomford Turner, Samagri Ltd and Krone
UK.
