A fractured fairytale
By Elise Chytra-McGirr

Once upon an time
there were three
wolves named
Fernando, Finbar
and Felix . They
lived with their
mum and dad
Fernard and Felicity
Highcastle.

One day their mother gave her three boys
some money and said, “This den is too
small for us all. You must go and make your
own houses while your father and I go to
Aunt Lick-a-bricks for a visit. When we
return, we will choose the best house and
live in it together.”
Fernando, the eldest of the wolves drove
down the hill in their big white limousine .

For the first few hours in the car it
was completely silent. But then,
Fernando saw a pile of bricks
outside the window. He
slammed on the brakes and he
said, “I’ll go and ask that man if I
can use those bricks to make
my house. You two can walk
from here, and anyway you
don’t have to make the same
house as me.”

Finbar and Felix were
downhearted as they
didn’t know where
they were, or what to
do next.
Suddenly Finbar saw
some sticks “You go
on your own’’ he
said, as he headed
towards the pile.

Just a few minutes later Felix saw a pile
freshly raked leaves ‘’I’m sure they won’t
mind if a take a few’’ he said, so he got
as many as he could carry but he didn’t
notice a titchy evil pig standing on the
other side of the leaves.

Well now, we have missed
something out haven't we.
A few days previously, a
tiny bad pig had moved
into the neighbourhood
where the Highcastle family
used to live. This pig hated
wolves, but he loved
eating, and he had
decided that he would eat
any wolf that crossed his
path.

He had just managed to get close to the
Highcastle wolf family (Because of his
size it had taken him at least several
hours to reach their house even though it
was next door to his) when he overheard
their plans to move. He raced to the
limousine and jumped in just as the door
was closing.

Meanwhile, Fernando, Finbar, and Felix
were all working hard building their
dream houses. Unfortunately none of
them had ever built anything before and
they were discovering that ‘it’s not as
easy as it looks!’

A few days had passed before they
were finally finished and were getting
themselves settled inside.

By now the titchy pig was famished,
and it was time for his plan to begin.
He decided to start with the brick
house. He walked to the front door
and oinked, “Humongous Wolf,
humongous wolf let me in.”
Fernando was not expecting any
visitors as he had just undressed for
the bath, and replied, “No, no, I will
not let you in. Not by the hair of my
tail so thin.”

So the tiny pig grunted and he grunted
and he grunted and the vibrations
grunted the house down.

Unfortunately for the evil pig, Fernando
escaped the ruins and ran to his brother
Finbar’s house to warn him. He quickly ran
inside.
Later the same day, the pig reached the
stick house, and knocked on the door.
“Humongous Wolves, humongous wolves let
me in.” Finbar snarled, “No, no, I will not let
you in. Not by the hair of my tail so thin.”
“Then I will grunt your house down.”

Ha, ha, two
houses down.
One to go!

By the time the evil pig reached the house of
leaves the three humongous wolves were
shivering inside. He tiptoed to the door, and
using his biggest voice shouted, “Humongous
Wolves, humongous wolves let me in.” Felix
growled, “No, no, I will not let you in. Not by
the hair of my tail so thin.”
So the evil pig grunted and grunted. Then he
grunted and grunted again but nothing
happened. Then the door slowly opened as
Felix came out to investigate. He couldn’t
see anything, but then heard a squishing
sound and felt something under his foot………

…….. and that was the end of the tiny
evil pig.

As for the wolf family. They lived
happily ever after.
