Biographical Information on new Board of Directors<br />
Louis Brause is the owner of Brause Realty, Inc that specializes in the long-term ownership , management and<br />
development of high-quality, well-located commercial real estate assets in New York. Mr. Brause sits on a variety of<br />
boards and has been active for the last three years with <strong>JINSA</strong>’s New York Cabinet.<br />
Dr. H. Stephen Schloss<br />
H. Stephen E. Schloss was born in Hanover, Germany. He received his BA-Mathematics from the University of<br />
Minnesota, MA-Mathematics from Harvard University, MS-Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Ph.D.-<br />
Electrical Engineering, Communication Sciences from the University of Southern California. He was Supervisor of<br />
Guidance and Navigation Analysis on the Apollo Program at North American Aviation, the prime contractor. He<br />
joined Merrill Lynch in 1992 and is today First Vice President, Wealth Management Advisor, PIA Program Portfolio<br />
Manager and resides in Beverly Hills, CA. Dr. Schloss participated in the most recent <strong>JINSA</strong> Leadership Trip to<br />
Israel.<br />
Donald Schwarz<br />
Don Schwarz is Senior Vice President - Financial Advisor, Senior Portfolio Manager at the Schwarz Group -RBC<br />
Wealth Management in Beverly Hills, CA.<br />
A Los Angeles native, Don Schwarz has over 40 years of experience in the securities and investment industry. In<br />
1967, after graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Don joined Sutro and Co., a California-based investment<br />
banking and brokerage firm, starting as a floor trader on the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange. After a brief stint in the<br />
military, Don became a broker and financial advisor to private clients.<br />
In 1990, Don joined the firm of Schroders plc, a 200 year-old British investment and merchant bank. In 2000,<br />
Citigroup acquired Schroders PLC and the North American arm became Smith Barney. In 2009, Don joined RBC<br />
Wealth Management, as a Senior Portfolio Manager in the Portfolio Focus program. In addition to his portfolio<br />
management responsibilities, Don also directs the research effort of the Schwarz Group. He was recently named one<br />
of the top 25 portfolio managers by California CEO magazine.<br />
An active participant in the community, Don sits on several boards. He is on the Board of Governors of The City<br />
of Hope Cancer and Medical Center, the Board of Overseers of the Los Angeles campus of Hebrew Union College-<br />
Jewish Institute of Religion, and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Committee for the Weizmann<br />
Institute of Science, in Rehovot Israel. Most recently, Don has become a founder and volunteer of MVAT Inc, a<br />
non-profit corporation that raises money and awareness for veterans suffering traumatic injuries. In conjunction<br />
with supporting our wounded warriors, he has also become involved with the Congressional Medal of Honor<br />
Foundation, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
George A. Violin, M.D., F.A.C.S.<br />
Graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1967 and completed his ophthalmic<br />
residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He was one of the pioneers in small incision cataract and implant<br />
surgery in Massachusetts and has had experience in this area for almost a quarter of a century.<br />
He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a charter member of the American College of Eye Surgeons.<br />
He is affiliated with Caritas Norwood Hospital, Faulkner/Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as Massachusetts<br />
Eye and Ear Infirmary and New England Medical Center. He devotes most of his practice to cataract surgery,<br />
LASIK and related surgeries. He was one of the early investigators of epikeratophakia, a precursor of current LASIK<br />
technology.<br />
Dr. Violin has been the subject of many news articles concerning his expertise in the areas of laser vision correction<br />
and cataract surgery. He has been featured, and has appeared as a guest speaker, on numerous local television and<br />
radio broadcasts, where he has discussed state of the art technologies in both of these areas.<br />
Dr. Violin is active on several boards including AIPAC and CAMERA.<br />
Joel M. Zinberg, M.D.<br />
A long-time member of the <strong>JINSA</strong> Board of Directors, Joel Zinberg, M.D., J.D. is a life long New Yorker. He<br />
graduated Stuyvesant High School and went on to receive a B.A. in economics with High Honors, Phi Beta Kappa,<br />
from Swarthmore College. He received his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and<br />
Surgeons and completed a surgical residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital on the Upper East Side where he has<br />
practiced for twenty five years.<br />
Dr. Zinberg also earned a law degree from the Yale Law School where he was a senior editor on the Law Journal.<br />
Combining his expertise in both law and medicine, Dr. Zinberg sits on numerous committees, has published many<br />
articles and has delivered numerous lectures on health policy, medical-legal issues, and ethics. He has taught at the<br />
Columbia Law School and at the Mount Sinai and Columbia Medical Schools.<br />
Joel lives on the Upper East Side with his wife, Colleen, a fellow physician, and their wonderful daughter, Sophie.<br />
They are active in their synagogue and many other community groups including the Nineteenth Police Precinct<br />
Community Council.
