The Background
Set in Seattle, Washington 2079, the world is very different.. In an
effort to control outbreaks of violence and serial killing amongst
people with mental abilities, young children have been trained from
birth to suppress all human emotion.

a group of Elite called the Psy Council, being different is dangerous.

The Series
The first book ‘Slave to Sensation’, introduces many of the main characters
who follow in subsequent books. The leader of one of the most powerful
Changeling clans—the DarkRiver leopard pack, Lucas Hunter is on the hunt
after a packmate was murdered by an unknown Psy. To find the killer, he
proposes a business deal between the Psy and the Changelings.
Ice-cold Cardinal Psy Sascha Duncan is assigned the role of Liaison between
the two groups. What no one knows is that Sascha has been experiencing
side effects from her mental conditioning for years. And she’s also feeling
emotions. With this first book, author Singh sets up the storyline for all future
characters. Essentially, it is an age old conflict between reason and emotion—
mind and heart.
As the civilization the Psy have built begins to crumble, and the WebMind
which sustains millions of Psy disintegrates, killings and kidnappings become
more prevalent and cannot be hidden by the PsyCouncil any longer. It’s up to
the various Changeling Communities and their leaders to uncover what is really
happening.
As Shifters and Psys begin to interact, relationships form which threaten the
Psy world, and the myth they have perpetrated for generations.
Through subsequent novels, Nalini Singh expands on the paranormal talents
shown by the Psy children, and introduces more Changeling clans and
characters. This futuristic world is a complex mixture— an amalgam of Anne
McCaffrey’s sci/fi style with more popular paranormal romance writers.
