Statistics Computer Aided Dispatch T he Communications Center is the heart of any police department and radio dispatchers are usually the first contact a citizen has with a police department, whether for an emergency or day-to-day business. I n April 2000, state-of-the-art computer equipment and software were installed in the Communications Center and immediately placed into operation. CAD, using the capabilities of Microsoft Windows®, interfaces several programs, systems and types of computer controlled equipment used by a radio dispatcher. The telephone, including the 911 telephone service, public safety radio communications, word processing and record keeping, data storage and patrol car mobile data computer units are integrated into one system. This class is certified by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards, as are the instructors. he course is geared for both the T experienced and new shooter. Shooters may either bring their own handgun for the class, or use one of a number of revolvers. he CPL class is held periodically, T depending upon the demand and costs $200. If you are interested in taking this class, call Officer Matejcik at 248-433-7724. Left, the CPL class is 8 hours of classroom and range time, a written exam and a shooting qualification test.
