Two Key Components of a
Conveyor / Scroll – Continuously
transports solids which have
settled upon the inside of the bowl
wall. Solids are conveyed to the
conical section of the bowl and
then discharged through the cake
discharge ports. The conveyor is
independently driven by a self
adjusting hydrostatic transmission.

Bowl – The key component in the
decanter centrifuge which through
its rotation creates “g” forces in
excess of 3000. Separation of the
solids from the liquids occur under
the high centrifugal force. The
solids are discharged at the
conical end of the bowl while the
liquid travels toward the cylindrical
end where it is discharged through
adjustable weirs.

Centrifugal castings are frequently referred to as liquid
forgings because in the centrifugal process molten
metal is literally forged by the high compressive
pressure exerted by centrifugal force.
In simple terms, we build our
centrifuges with centrifuges!

Centrifugal Casting Process
•Physical properties such as tensile, creep & fatigue strength are
increased by 30% in a centrifugally cast bowl vs. a static cast or
fabricated bowl assembly
•Centrifugally cast centrifuge components withstand greater
overload and strain enabling higher operating speeds for improved
process performance
•Free from impurities and oxides, the centrifugal cast is a corrosion
free / defect free component. Welded or static cast stainless bowls
are prone to corrosion and weakness

Benefits:
Uses less power than an electrical gear drive system
(planetary or cyclo)
Higher torque output than a gear drive allowing optimal solids
dryness
½ the weight of a cyclo or planetary gearbox meaning less
vibration and bearing loading
More responsive to scroll torque fluctuations than a gear drive
system
Positive scrolling independent of the bowl speed – excellent for
flushing of the centrifuge
The Viscotherm system is suited for harsh environments (dust,
heat & humidity) unlike electrical drive systems
