Kosan+ Automatic Changeover Regulators (cont.) The double stage automatic changeover regulator 524AC, combines an automatic changeover first stage regulator coupled with a second stage regulator, 988 LP. This changeover regulator is used with two DOT cylinders installed side by side and ensures continuous gas flow from the first exhausted cylinder (A) to the second reserve cylinder (B). Because the regulator body is made of zinc alloy, a plastic mounting bracket must be used. Start-up: To ensure the automatic changeover and a continuous flow of gas, turn both cylinders’ gas valves on at the same time. The changeover from the first to the second cylinder (A to B) will not happen if the valve on the second cylinder is closed. Reading the changeover indicator: When both A and B cylinders are full and their valves are opened, the changeover indicator will show green. (See Fig. 1) The arrow on the changeover’s knob shows which cylinder (A) is supplying gas. When that cylinder’s pressure reaches less than 10 PSI, the automatic changeover to the second cylinder (B) “automatically” takes place and gas continues to flow. At that point, the indicator will then show red. (See Fig 2) Changing cylinders: Close the valve on cylinder A and turn the automatic changeover knob 180° to the right. (See Fig, 3a) If the reserve cylinder B is full and its valve is open, the automatic changeover indicator will show green. (See Fig. 3b) Remove the empty cylinder. Position a new full cylinder and open the valve.
