The first step in the process is to obtain the relevant job in<strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m<strong>at</strong>ion package.<br />

your applic<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />

Your applic<strong>at</strong>ion must include:<br />
• a completed job applic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m, including names and contact details of two referees who can be<br />
contacted to discuss the claims made in your applic<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
• a ‘st<strong>at</strong>ement of claim’ in which you write a brief paragraph describing how you meet each one of<br />
the selection criteria<br />
• your resume (<strong>or</strong> CV) which includes your personal details, employment and volunteer w<strong>or</strong>k hist<strong>or</strong>y,<br />
and relevant qualific<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
• a completed loc<strong>at</strong>ion nomin<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m<br />
• a completed Verific<strong>at</strong>ion of Academic Qualific<strong>at</strong>ions Consent <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m<br />
• a completed Pre Employment Screening Consent <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m and Prohibited Employment Declar<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
You may also wish to include a covering letter. It is imp<strong>or</strong>tant to note th<strong>at</strong> <strong>at</strong> le<strong>as</strong>t one of your<br />
referees must have supervised you <strong>at</strong> some time point during the l<strong>as</strong>t two years.<br />
Once you have submitted your applic<strong>at</strong>ion – c<strong>as</strong>ew<strong>or</strong>kers and c<strong>as</strong>ew<strong>or</strong>k <strong>manager</strong>s.<br />
If you are applying <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> a c<strong>as</strong>ew<strong>or</strong>ker <strong>position</strong> and are considered suitable you will be invited to <strong>at</strong>tend<br />
an <strong>as</strong>sessment centre.<br />
We will phone to arrange a d<strong>at</strong>e <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> you to <strong>at</strong>tend an <strong>as</strong>sessment centre near you.<br />
<strong>DoCS</strong> will phone you to arrange a d<strong>at</strong>e <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> you to <strong>at</strong>tend an regional <strong>as</strong>sessment centre near you.<br />
Details of your appointment <strong>at</strong> the <strong>as</strong>sessment centre will then be confirmed in writing and<br />
accompanied by tips on how to prepare. You are expected to <strong>at</strong>tend in person <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> half a day and<br />
telephone interviews are not permitted.<br />
At the <strong>as</strong>sessment centre you will particip<strong>at</strong>e in a range of activities including written, verbal, and<br />
group exercises, a role play scenario and a sh<strong>or</strong>t interview. You will also be <strong>as</strong>ked to sign<br />
pre-employment screening <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>ms.<br />
These exercises will allow you to demonstr<strong>at</strong>e your relevant skills in a practical environment and learn<br />
m<strong>or</strong>e about the job.<br />

It also allows <strong>DoCS</strong> to <strong>as</strong>sess your problem solving, interacting, supp<strong>or</strong>ting, cooper<strong>at</strong>ing, decision<br />
making, adapting and coping skills.<br />
If you are considered suitable but not immedi<strong>at</strong>ely offered a <strong>position</strong>, you may be placed on an<br />
eligibility list to be considered <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> further vacancies arising in the following six to twelve months. You<br />
will be advised if you are on this list <strong>at</strong> the time.<br />
If you express an interest in this option, you may also be offered sh<strong>or</strong>t term temp<strong>or</strong>ary employment<br />
opp<strong>or</strong>tunities during the interim period. Check the job in<strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m<strong>at</strong>ion package to find out m<strong>or</strong>e.<br />
If you do not p<strong>as</strong>s the <strong>as</strong>sessment centre stage you will be notified by letter once the recruitment<br />
process is complete and offered post selection counselling.<br />
Once you have submitted your applic<strong>at</strong>ion – JIRT c<strong>as</strong>ew<strong>or</strong>ker <strong>position</strong>s<br />
If you are applying <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> a JIRT c<strong>as</strong>ew<strong>or</strong>ker <strong>position</strong> and are considered suitable you will be invited to<br />
<strong>at</strong>tend an interview.<br />
You will be interviewed by a panel of <strong>at</strong> le<strong>as</strong>t three people who will <strong>as</strong>k you questions rel<strong>at</strong>ed to the<br />
selection criteria and the duties of the <strong>position</strong>.<br />
All in<strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m<strong>at</strong>ion provided by you and your referees is tre<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>as</strong> confidential.<br />
You may also be <strong>as</strong>ked to provide:<br />
• examples of your p<strong>as</strong>t w<strong>or</strong>k<br />
• certified copies of any qualific<strong>at</strong>ions required <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> the <strong>position</strong>.<br />
The interview is your opp<strong>or</strong>tunity to indic<strong>at</strong>e the salary you are seeking and to advise us of a d<strong>at</strong>e<br />
when you would be able to start w<strong>or</strong>k, if offered the <strong>position</strong>. You will be <strong>as</strong>ked to sign pre<br />
employment screening consent <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>ms and if you are considered suitable, your referees will be<br />
contacted after the interview.<br />
