THE FIFTH INTERNATIONAL JANINA GARŚCIA CONTEST
STALOWA WOLA 2012
REGULATIONS
1. The contest will be held between 21-26 May 2012 in the I & II grade Ignacy Paderewski Music
School in Stalowa Wola at ul. Narutowicza 11.
2. The contest may be entered by both Polish and foreign music schools’ students. They may
compete in the following categories:
Cello
Violin
Piano
3. The contest will be held in two age groups:
Group 1: students born in 2003 and younger
Group 2: students born in 2000 and younger
4. Programme of the Contest:
CELLO 21 May (Monday) 2012
Group I: three chosen pieces of music including:
Virtuoso-like piece of music
Cantilena
A piece of music by a Polish composer
Group II:
A piece of music by a Polish composer
A piece of music by the contestant’s native composer
Two contrasting parts of a chosen concerto, sonata or concertino.
Total time of the performance cannot exceed 20 minutes.
VIOLIN 22, 23 May (Tuesday, Wednesday) 2012
Group I: three chosen pieces of music including:
Virtuoso-like piece of music
Cantilena
A piece of music by a Polish composer
Group II:
A piece of music by a Polish composer
A piece of music by the contestant’s native composer
Two contrasting parts of a concerto.
Total time of performance cannot exceed 20 minutes.

PIANO 24, 25, 26 May (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) 2012
Group I: three chosen pieces of music including:
Virtuoso-like piece of music
Cantilena
A piece of music by Janina Garścia
Group II:
A piece of music by Janina Garścia
A piece of music by the contestant’s native composer
Concerto ( full concerto, one or two parts)
Total time of performance cannot exceed 15 minutes.
5. The pieces of music constituting the contestant’s programme have to be played from memory.
6. The jury are allowed to break a programme exceeding the time limit.
7. The contestants will be performing in the alphabetical order starting from the letter drawn by the
contest’s organisers.
8. Contestants perform with their own accompanist.
9. Regulations concerning assessment and awards granting will be drawn up by a jury appointed by
the Principal of the Artistic Education Centre. The jury’s decisions shall be irreversible.
10. The Contest organisers expect that selected instrumental concerts will be performed with a
chamber orchestra during the Prizewinners’ Concert on 26 nd May (Saturday) 2012. Participation
in the Concert depends on the Jury’s decision as well as the possibility of obtaining by the Contest
Organizers’ scores of the pieces of music to be performed.
11. An entrance fee in the amount of 100,00 Polish zlotys shall be paid by each contestant onto the
following account:
16. The entrance fee is not refundable.

17. Transport, food and accommodation costs shall be covered by contestants, teachers and observers
themselves.
