Installation<br />
As piles are installed the Still<br />
Worker is “walked” on and the<br />
three piles the pile press is<br />
positioned on are welded together.<br />
This general principal is adopted<br />
as the installation progresses.<br />
Water jetting may be used to aid<br />
the installation through granular<br />
and cohesive soils.<br />

In order to commence the works<br />
the reaction stand is positioned<br />
and our kentledge placed onto<br />
the reaction stand. The kentledge<br />
gives the reaction force required<br />
to install the first three piles.<br />
The kentledge and the reaction<br />
stand are cleared away from the<br />
working area. The Still Worker<br />
then operates from the top of the<br />
installed sheet piles.<br />

Reaction stand set-up<br />
Once the first three piles are<br />
installed the Still Worker is walked<br />
onto the three piles.<br />

Still Worker is set on the reaction stand for the<br />
installation of the first two or three sheet piles.<br />
Travel carriage then slides forward.<br />
The Still Worker can install sheet piles of 400mm,<br />
500mm and 600mm. The leg clamps are used<br />
in different configurations to install the<br />
different sheet pile sections.<br />
In case of 400mm-pitch, normally 2 clamps<br />
are used. The drawing on the right,<br />
however, shows the use of an optional<br />
No.1 Clamp when enough reaction force<br />
cannot be obtained.<br />

Pile press procedure<br />
Still Worker moves by elevating its travel carriage<br />
while supporting itself on the last installed pile.<br />

Travel carriage lowers itself and drops onto the<br />
installed sheet piles and continues its hydraulic<br />
installation process. After the third (or fourth) pile<br />
is driven, Still Worker moves off the reaction<br />
stand to travel independently on the piles.<br />
