BS2000 Bubbler System Specifiation
1. A bubbler type level measurement system shall be provided. It must be fully
automatic and provide a 4-20mA analog output signal, representing level. It must be
capable of measuring up to 20 feet of water, and be UL Listed as Process Control
Equipment.
2. It shall operate two air compressors in a lead-lag configuration.
3. Automatic alternation of the air compressors must be performed at the end of each
pumping cycle.
4. Automatic bubbler line purge must be performed at least once every six hours, with a
provision for manual purge built into the Bubble System Controller. A minimum of
14 psi must be released into the bubbler line to perform the purge.
5. The 4-20mA analog level signal must be frozen during the bubbler line purge cycle to
prevent erratic operation of the pumps or erroneous alarms.
6. A fault relay contact must be provided that closes to indicate that both compressors
have failed or that there is a clogged bubbler line.
7. A push-button must be provided to reset alarms or to manually start the bubbler line
purge cycle.
8. Tank pressure indication must be provided.
9. Automatic moisture dump of the air storage tank must be provided.
10. The air storage tank must be constructed of a corrosion proof material.
11. The bubbler system shall have zero and span calibration adjustment.
12. The bubbler system shall have an air tank pressure adjustment to provide a means of
reducing air usage and extending the life of the air compressors.
13. The bubbler system must automatically detect a clogged bubbler line. If a clogged
bubbler line is detected, the system must automatically perform the bubbler line purge
cycle. Should the first attempt at clearing the bubbler line fail, indication of the
clogged bubbler line condition must be provided, and an alarm relay contact must be
generated. The fault indication must remain until the alarm is manually reset.
14. The bubbler system shall continue to purge every 30 minutes until bubbler line clog is
cleared, or the alarm has been manually reset.

15. The bubbler system shall be made in a modular construction, so that affected subassemblies
can be removed for service without removing the entire bubbler system.
16. The complete bubbler system, including the air tank, shall have panel mounting
dimensions of 13.25 inches high by 11 inches wide.
17. A high quality check valve shall be provided for each compressor.
18. Compressor performance must be tested during each run cycle. Compressor fault
indication must be provided upon failure. Along with fault indication, an alarm relay
contact must also be generated by the bubbler system to indicate a problem with the
failed compressor. The failed compressor must be assigned the lag pump status, until
the alarm is reset. The fault indication must remain until the alarm is manually reset.
19. The bubbler system must be able to recognize an air leak condition, and put the air
compressors into an air compressor save mode, running each compressor for a time
that will not exceed the duty rating of the compressor.
20. The Bubbler System shall be Model BS2000, as manufactured by Motor Protection
Electronics, Apopka, Florida (407) 299-3825.
