Pagan Calendar February 6 -12 

February 13 On this date, an annual holiday called the Parentalia was observed in ancient 

Rome. It lasted until the twenty-first of February and was a day for families to honor and 

commemorate their deceased loved ones, particularly their parents. During the week of 

Parentalia, all temples in Rome were closed and all wedding ceremonies forbidden. Ancestral 

tombs were visited and offerings of wine and flowers were made to family ghosts. 

February 14 Saint Valentine's Day. This is a day dedicated to all lovers, and the traditional 

time for Witches around the world to practice all forms of love magic and love divination. 

This day is sacred to Juno-Lupa, the she-wolf goddess of the ancient Roman religion. In early 

times, she was honored annually on this day by a women's fertility festival and the sacrifice of 

a female wolf. 

February 15 On this date in ancient Rome, a festival known as the Lupercalia (Feast of the 

Wolf) was celebrated to honor the god Lupercus and to mark the beginning of Spring. The 

festival which was a rustic ritual of both purification and fertility magic, also included the 

sacrifice of goats and dogs to the god Faunus (identified by classical writers as the horned 

goat-god Pan). During the orgiastic festival, young men would choose their sexual partners by 

drawing the names of young women out of a bowl. 

February 16 In the distant past, a rite called the Devil's Dance was performed annually on 

this date (approximately) as part of the Tibetan New Year festival. Monks wearing grotesque 

masks would dance for hours as a village sorcerer exorcised demons and the evil influences of 

the past year with various magickal incantations. 

February 17 On this day, according to Hindu religion and mythology, the fearsome goddess 

known as Kali was born and the world entered into the Kali Yuga (the "Evil Age"). Kali, the 

destroyer-goddess, was depicted with black skin, a hideous face, and four arms. In ancient 

times, human sacrifices were made to appease her and to satisfy her thirst for blood. 

February 18 On this day, a festival of women known as the Spenta Armaiti was held 

annually throughout the country of Persia. Ancient fertility rites were performed by temple 

priestesses in honor of the goddess Spandarmat, and the goddess who dwells within all 

women was honored and invoked with special prayers and meditations. 

February 19 On this date (approximately), the Sun enters the astrological sign of Pisces. 

Persons born under the sign of the Two Fishes are said to be telepathic, tolerant, sensitive, 

artistic, and often prone to daydreaming. Pisces is a water sign and is ruled by the planet 

Neptune. 

According to mythology, the goddess Minerva was born on this day (which is sacred to the 

Pagan deities Nammu and Nina).

Valentine’s Day 

Saint Valentine's Day, commonly shortened to Valentine's Day, is a holiday observed on 

February 14 honoring one or more early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine. 

It was first established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD, and was later deleted from the General 

Roman Calendar of saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI. 

The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the 

High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. By the 15th century, it had 

evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting 

flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards known as "valentines" 

Modern Valentine's Day symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of 

the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to massproduced 

greeting cards 

Numerous early Christian martyrs were named Valentine. The Valentines honored on 

February 14 are Valentine of Rome (Valentinus presb. m. Romae) and Valentine of Terni 

(Valentinus ep. Interamnensis m. Romae). Valentine of Rome was a priest in Rome who was 

martyred about AD 269 and was buried on the Via Flaminia. His relics are at the Church of 

Saint Praxed in Rome, and at Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church in Dublin, Ireland. 

Valentine of Terni became bishop of Interamna (modern Terni) about AD 197 and is said to 

have been martyred during the persecution under Emperor Aurelian. He is also buried on the 

Via Flaminia, but in a different location than Valentine of Rome. His relics are at the Basilica 

of Saint Valentine in Terni (Basilica di San Valentino). 

The Catholic Encyclopedia also speaks of a third saint named Valentine who was mentioned 

in early martyrologies under date of February 14. He was martyred in Africa with a number of 

companions, but nothing more is known about him. 

No romantic elements are present in the original early medieval biographies of either of these 

martyrs. By the time a Saint Valentine became linked to romance in the 14th century, 

distinctions between Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terni were utterly lost. 

Saint Valentine's head was preserved in the abbey of New Minster, Winchester and venerated. 

But there is no evidence that Saint Valentine was a popular saint before Chaucer's poems in 

14th century, not even in the area of Winchester. 

Saint Valentine's celebration didn't differ from the celebrations of many other saints, and no 

church was ever dedicated to him. In the 1969 revision of the Roman Catholic Calendar of 

Saints, the feast day of Saint Valentine on February 14 was removed from the General Roman 

Calendar and relegated to particular (local or even national) calendars for the 

following reason: "Though the memorial of Saint Valentine is ancient, it is left to particular 

calendars, since, apart from his name, nothing is known of Saint Valentine except that he was 

buried on the Via Flaminia on February 14." 

The feast day is still celebrated in Balzan (Malta) where relics of the saint are claimed to be 

found, and also throughout the world by Traditionalist Catholics who follow the older, pre- 

Second Vatican Council calendar. February 14 is also celebrated as St Valentine's Day in 

other Christian denominations; it has, for example, the rank of 'commemoration' in the 

calendar of the Church of England and other parts of the Anglican Communion. 

In 1797, a British publisher issued The Young Man's Valentine Writer, which contained 

scores of suggested sentimental verses for the young lover unable to compose his own.

Printers had already begun producing a limited number of cards with verses and sketches, 

called "mechanical valentines," and a reduction in postal rates in the next century ushered in 

the less personal but easier practice of mailing Valentines. That, in turn, made it possible for 

the first time to exchange cards anonymously, which is taken as the reason for the sudden 

appearance of racy verse in an era otherwise prudishly Victorian. 

Paper Valentines became so popular in England in the early 19th century that they were 

assembled in factories. Fancy Valentines were made with real lace and ribbons, with paper 

lace introduced in the mid-19th century. In the UK, just under half of the population spend 

money on their Valentines and around 1.3 billion pounds are spent yearly on cards, flowers, 

chocolates and other gifts, with an estimated 25 million cards being sent. The reinvention of 

Saint Valentine's Day in the 1840s has been traced by Leigh Eric Schmidt. As a writer in 

Graham's American Monthly observed in 1849, "Saint Valentine's Day... is becoming, nay it 

has become, a national holyday." In the United States, the first mass-produced valentines of 

embossed paper lace were produced and sold shortly after 1847 by Esther Howland (1828– 

1904) of Worcester, Massachusetts. 

Her father operated a large book and stationery store, but Howland took her inspiration from 

an English Valentine she had received from a business associate of her father. Intrigued with 

the idea of making similar Valentines, Howland began her business by importing paper lace 

and floral decorations from England. The English practice of sending Valentine's cards 

was established enough to feature as a plot device in Elizabeth Gaskell's Mr. Harrison's 

Confessions (1851): "I burst in with my explanations: 

'"The valentine I know nothing about." '"It is in your handwriting", said he coldly. 

Since 2001, the Greeting Card Association has been giving an annual "Esther Howland 

Award for a Greeting Card Visionary." 

Since the 19th century, handwritten notes have given way to mass-produced greeting cards. 

The mid-19th century Valentine's Day trade was a harbinger of further commercialized 

holidays in the United States to follow. 

In the second half of the 20th century, the practice of exchanging cards was extended to all 

manner of gifts in the United States. Such gifts typically include roses and chocolates packed 

in a red satin, heart-shaped box. In the 1980s, the diamond industry began to promote 

Valentine's Day as an occasion for giving jewelry. 

The U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately 190 million valentines are 

sent each year in the US. Half of those valentines are given to family members other than 

husband or wife, usually to children. When you include the valentine-exchange cards made in 

school activities the figure goes up to 1 billion, and teachers become the people receiving 

the most valentines.[38] In some North American elementary schools, children decorate 

classrooms, exchange cards, and are given sweets. The greeting cards of these students 

sometimes mention what they appreciate about each other. 

The rise of Internet popularity at the turn of the millennium is creating new traditions. 

Millions of people use, every year, digital means of creating and sending Valentine's Day 

greeting messages such as e-cards, love coupons or printable greeting cards.

Spell of the Week 

Seeds of Love 

You may not be actually planting these seeds in the dirt, but this charm can help love to 

blossom. You'll need to get these items together: 

• 9 sunflower seeds 

• 9 dried beans 

• 9 dry kernels of corn 

• 9 grains of barley 

• 9 dry chamomile buds 

• 9 whole cloves 

• Rose oil 

• Glass bottle with stopper 

• Red ribbon 

You need to choose a bottle that will hold all the seeds, but won't have too much empty space 

at the top either. This Wiccan love spell should be performed on the night of the new moon. 

Drop each of the seeds into the bottle, one by one. Yes, it's a bit tedious but that's how it's 

done. As you do so, repeat the following lines: 

Seeds and spices, give me power 

Time to make my love life flower 

As the moon grows in the sky 

This charm will make my wishes fly 

When the bottle is filled, add 9 drops of rose oil to the top and stopper it up. Don't shake, you 

need to let the oil work its way down from the top. Tie the red ribbon in a bow around the 

bottle and place it somewhere quiet where it won't be disturbed. By the full moon, you should 

see some action in the love department. 

Passion on Your Doorstep 

The use of hot pepper in love spells is kind of a Voodoo tradition, but can be pretty successful 

in any kind of spell work. Get your ingredients together: 

• 3 drops hot pepper sauce 

• 3 cups of rain water 

• Dried rosemary 

• Black peppercorns 

• Dried orris root pieces 

• 3 drops Lavender oil 

You don't need to be too precise with the herbs. Two or three pinches of each would be fine, 

just try to use the same amount for all the herbs. Stir everything together in a bowl, while you 

concentrate on drawing love and passion into your life. 

Using your fingers, sprinkle the mixture around your front doorstep. Don't just pour it all out 

in one spot. Wash your hands well afterwards, and wait for love to come knocking at your 

door.

Spenta Armaiti 

Spenta Armaiti means "Holy Serenity, Devotion" also means Tranquility, Holy Compliance. 

It is peace and prosperity. She is an earth and fertility goddess and daughter of Ahura Mazda. 

Spenta Armaiti is one of the Amesha Spentas, the seven "Bounteous Immortals" of the 

Zoroastrian tradition. These are emanations of the one God Ahura Mazda, which are 

sometimes personified and sometimes considered as abstract concepts. Of all the Seven, 

Spenta Armaiti is perhaps the most difficult to translate and explain. The term Spenta is itself 

hard to translate into English; it means "increasing" or "growing" but with a connotation of 

goodness, holiness, and benevolence. 

Zoroastrianism recognizes various classes of spiritual beings besides the Supreme Being 

Ahura Mazda (literally: 'the Wise Lord' like the Sanskrit 'Asura Medha'; later transcription: 

Ohrmazd, Ormazd or Ormus). 

These beings, or 'Emanations', include the Amesha Spentas (Amahraspands), 'Bounteous 

Immortals', each of which personifies an attribute of Ahura Mazda as well as a human virtue. 

In early Zoroastrianism they were spirits of light and may be considered divine aspects of 

Ahura Mazda. Later they attained status as independent deities

Merry Meet fellow Wiccans to my Wiccan World 

The week has passed by very, very quickly, and I still wonder where it has gone to..LOL.. The 

winter is still here, and we have had our days with very low temperatures. But all Europe have 

had it, so we in Sweden aren’t the only ones with it. The project I have been working on is on 

the go and we are progressing every day. The Goddess and friends have given me their 

support to continue with my third degree projects. So I have taken a breather from my project 

with the others to focus on my own ones, so I can get my 3 rd Degree to a closure. I have 

continued with the Boosters for my Kundalini Reiki, and they are going well, I think. 

The Kundalini Boosters you are getting with your Master Attunement, and there are 6 of 

them, all in all. When you do receive them, you are asking your Higher Self to receive it. It is 

a slightly different feeling, but you still got the tingling sensation and all that you would in a 

distant Attunement. I am counting on, to do them with 5 days apart and that would take a 

month to finish them. Then I would give myself a treatment with them, and then you send 

each of them as a distant Attunement to your Kundalini Master. That way, both of you knows 

that you have received them properly, as you wouldn’t be able to give them as a treatment to 

others, if you haven’t received it yourself. 

My project together with the others, have I taken a break from for now. As I have got the 

calling and support from my friends, both online and offline, to continue with my two final 3 rd 

Degree projects. I will, as I said before, have a class in Runes and are working on getting the 

booklet finished for it, and then do it as a Class on Witch School so everyone who wants can 

take it if they are interested in Runes. When I started with it, I had little to nearly no 

knowledge about them. They had always spoken to me, though, and now I am on the finish 

line with the class. Now, I know a lot, but you always learn new things with them. They are 

truly living, and speak to you in new ways every time you are using them. I will then also as 

the other project hold a Reiki Meeting and see what my town has in interest in it. Maybe it is 

not an interest at all, but then I at least know. As I am planning to might have classes in it, in 

the future. That goes with the Correllian Traditions Degree Lessons, too, and I have the 

Lessons translated to Swedish all ready, so I am prepared when that day comes… 

I also was the Ritual Leader for the Healing Ritual on Friday, and they are always giving so 

much back, as you have loads of energy and also feel that you have done something for 

others. I have scheduled days that I am taking on the Role, and the next one I am leading is 

the Gaia Ritual on Tuesday February 21 st , and I am so looking forward to that day. Once a 

month, you are focused to heal our Earth, Gaia, and send a massive dose of healing energy to 

Her.

Cosmic Weather: your weekly astrology almanac

Love and fantasies melt our hearts, but beware of illusions. A wonderful week for achieving 

results in something you’ve been working towards for a while. If you want to begin a project, 

wait until the new Moon on the 21st. 

Monday 13th February: Fine-tuning your thinking or delivering a crisp report is favoured 

today. Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are particularly formidable now. 

Tuesday 14th February: Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day! If only it weren’t quite so formulaic and 

commercialised…..This year the Moon is in jealous, passionate Scorpio. Flirty Venus is in 

speedy Aries, while sexual energy planet Mars is still weak in Virgo. A mixed bag. Mercury, 

who will be in charge of all the cards and flowers, enters Pisces and joins romantic Neptune. 

Poetry and music (sigh) could meet up with a seductive whiff of deception. 

Wednesday 15th February: The final day of the ancient Roman feast of Lupercalia, or the 

festival of the Wolf (13th-15th February). It honoured Faunus, creature of forests and fertility 

rites. His Greek name is Pan, goat-footed god of wild places and unbridled lust. On this day 

young men ran naked through the streets, Vestal Virgins prepared sacred cakes, and there 

were blood sacrifices. And now we’ve just got Valentine’s Day….. 

Venus and Pluto link up today, bringing a darker, passionate energy into our consciousness. 

Somewhere, the spirit of the wolf may be howling. 

Thursday 16th February: Expansive, optimistic ideas flourish today. And it’s the birthday 

of a very special, inventive Aquarian, Pamela ‘Pixie’ Colman Smith – 16th February 1878 – 

18th September 1951. She’s the artist who designed that wonderful classic tarot deck the 

Waite Smith deck in 1909. It used to be known as the Rider-Waite deck, after the publisher 

(Rider) and author (Waite). But without Pamela’s graceful illustrations it might never have 

survived, or gone on to become the best-selling tarot deck in the world. She died, penniless, in 

Cornwall. 

Saturday 18th February: A splendid day for solid achievement and serious thought. Move 

quickly though, it’s all about to dissolve around your ears. 

Saturn turns retrograde today. The planet of boundaries and bones will rewind until June 

2012. It’s a good period for rechecking research, legal documents, contracts and so on. 

Sunday 19th February: Sun enters Pisces. Happy birthday month to all those magical Fish! 

Let your imagination flow and your amazing intuition guide you this year. 

Today the Sun meets misty Neptune and we’re all at sea. Or lost in space...

any of you have a crystal that you have added or removed from the Crystal Web contact us to 

ensure are records up to date and accurate.

the means of gathering together to collectively promote the weaving of peace into the fabric

writing, intentional art and music, and other positive energy work and light work, with harm 

to none, and for the highest good of all concerned. 

The motto of the Order of Peace Weavers is: "Be Peace, Live Peace, Send Love, Weave 

Peace." We hold a monthly 15 minute group peace meditation on the first Wednesday of

The Order of World Walkers 

This Correllian order is headed by the Rev. Krystel High Correll and she is offering training 

for those who wish to join the order. The training consists of twelve lessons, one a month, for 

a year, offered through e-mail. 

The purpose of this order is to fulfill the deeper purposes of the Correllian Tradition-advanced 

psychic and spiritual work, primarily conducted on multi-dimensional levels. This 

work includes: 

Learning to connect and work with your spirit guides. Conscious dying and conscious 

incarnation. Advanced dream work. Exploring the known boundaries of the multidimensional 

universe, then conducting independent work to go beyond those boundaries. The 

study of time and advanced work within it. Soul rescue (helping those who are not aware they 

have died, or are not willing to cross over). Mediumship (being a voice for the so-called dead, 

visiting the land of the dead and ommunicating with them, and building a pathway between 

the living and the dead). Healing, both personal and of our Earth. 

These purposes are divided among five houses that consist of the members who are dedicated 

to the work of the House. 

The Order of World Walkers is a working order. The training is only the beginning. Each of

The Order of the Magic Quill providing Pagan and Wiccan literature for children, resources, 

where to find literature and any literature that the members would like to contribute for Pagan

The Order of Orpheus is awarded to people in recognition of outstanding services to the 

Correllian Tradition. 

The Order of the Round Table: 

The Order of the Round Table is awarded to people in recognition of outstanding services to the Pagan 

community. 

The Order of Tsalv: 

The Order of Tsalv (Selu) is awarded to people in recognition of outstanding services the 

cause of peace in the world. 

Meritorious Orders 

In addition to the above Orders which are awarded only rarely and in recognition of extreme 

accomplishments, we have also Meritorious Orders awarded twice yearly at the Lustrations, 

to recognize the work and achievements which keep our Tradition running on a daily basis.
