Coriander<br />

Seed of Coriander is widely used <strong>for</strong> the medic<strong>in</strong>al purposes. It works both by enhanc<strong>in</strong>g the secretion of <strong>in</strong>sul<strong>in</strong><br />

from the pancreas and exhibit<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>sul<strong>in</strong>-like activity at cellular level. It is Yellowish–brown to brown <strong>in</strong> colour,<br />

aromatic, spicy and 2 to 4 mm <strong>in</strong> diameter and 4 to 30 mm <strong>in</strong> length. Coriander is a sub-globular cremocarpous fruit.<br />

C<strong>in</strong>namon<br />

Ramasubramaniaraja and Niranjan<br />

Bark of C<strong>in</strong>namon is widely used <strong>for</strong> the medic<strong>in</strong>al purposes. It enhances the activity of the enzymes that <strong>in</strong>crease<br />

cell receptor <strong>in</strong>sul<strong>in</strong> sensitivity, and <strong>in</strong>hibits those that have the opposite effect. The outer surface is dull yellowish–<br />

brown, while the <strong>in</strong>ner surface is dark yellowish-brown, Fragrant, Aromatic and sweet followed by warm sensation.<br />

Size is about 1 m <strong>in</strong> length and 1 cm <strong>in</strong> diameter and the thickness of the bark is approximately 0.5 mm. Its Shape is<br />

<strong>in</strong> the <strong>for</strong>m of compound quills.<br />
