Calling all Young Adults!<br />

There will be a young adult ministry group coming<br />

here to <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Paul</strong>’s called<br />

Spirit and Truth!<br />

The group will include a speaker,<br />

Eucharistic Adoration,<br />

worship music, food and fellowship!<br />

The group will meet<br />

every Thursday night from 7:00pm-9:00pm.<br />

The group will start in <strong>the</strong> Convent Basement–<br />

north door (Youth Ministry Center) at 7:00 followed<br />

by Adoration and Discussion in <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Church</strong><br />

(using north middle door).<br />

ALL young adults between <strong>the</strong> ages of 18 and<br />

39 are welcome, single or married.<br />

It is a great opportunity to meet new people and<br />

grow in faith!<br />

The Franciscan Sisters of <strong>the</strong> Sacred Heart<br />

will host our eleventh annual fundraiser, on<br />

Sunday, <strong>September</strong> 23, at <strong>the</strong> Odyssey Country<br />

Club in Tinley Park, Illinois. “Fraternitas<br />

2012: South Pacific” is in <strong>the</strong> planning to be a<br />

fundraiser and a friendraiser. The evening will<br />

include a delicious dinner, entertainment,<br />

unique decorations, a variety of raffles and a<br />

live auction.<br />

All- School Reunion Event<br />

October 20-21, 2012<br />

All graduates, attendees, & teachers of <strong>the</strong> long-closed<br />

Sacred Heart Grade School on South Ottawa<br />

<strong>St</strong>reet in Joliet, Il are invited to a reunion<br />

with <strong>the</strong>ir former classmates. The reunion<br />

will take place at Giovan’s Restaurant<br />

and Pizzeria in Crest Hill, IL. The<br />

time is from 6:30-9:30 PM on Saturday,<br />

October 20. Cost is $15 and includes a<br />

pizza, salad, & bread buffet. There will be a cash<br />

bar. Everyone is also invited to a special Mass on Sunday,<br />

October 21 at 10 AM at Sacred Heart <strong>Church</strong>, 337 S. Ottawa<br />

<strong>St</strong>reet in Joliet. An informal reception in <strong>the</strong> church hall will<br />

follow <strong>the</strong> Mass.<br />

MARRIAGE AND THE CHURCH<br />

There has been much news lately about <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Church</strong>'s teaching on contraception and <strong>the</strong><br />

sanctity of marriage. As Catholics, we may be<br />

asking thoughtful questions or struggling to understand<br />

this teaching. To learn more all parishioners<br />

and especially engaged and married<br />

couples are invited to attend a<br />

talk, "Marriage-Love and Life"<br />

<strong>the</strong> Secretariat for Family, Laity, Women and<br />

Youth at <strong>the</strong> United <strong>St</strong>ates Conference of Catholic<br />

Bishops, will present: "At <strong>the</strong> Threshold:<br />

Women, Tradition, Modernity." She will explore<br />

ways of bringing <strong>the</strong> voices of women into<br />

<strong>the</strong> decision making processes of <strong>the</strong> church<br />

and how best to use <strong>the</strong> gifts of women in<br />

church (and secular) leadership. Come be a part<br />

of this 8th annual Bishop Imesch Lecture Series on<br />
