NOTICE OF RACE<br />

X-<strong>Yachts</strong> Gold Cup including<br />

<strong>Open</strong> <strong>Scandinavian</strong> <strong>Championship</strong> X - 35<br />

1. Organising Authority<br />

The organising authority is the Flensburger Segel-Club (FSC) in conjunction with X-<br />

<strong>Yachts</strong> Denmark.<br />

2. Headquarters<br />

The X-<strong>Yachts</strong> Gold Cup 2011 Headquarters will be at Flensburger Segel Club Marina<br />

in Glücksburg - Quellental, Flensburg Inner Fjord, approximately 6 km northeast of<br />

Flensburg.<br />

3. Venue and Dates<br />

The X-<strong>Yachts</strong> Gold Cup and <strong>Open</strong> <strong>Scandinavian</strong> <strong>Championship</strong> X - 35 will be held<br />

from the 6 to 9 July in Glücksburg, Germany.<br />

4. Maximum <strong>Yachts</strong> & Participants<br />

The event can host a maximum of approximately 90 yachts.<br />

Due to the maximum capacity, each yacht may also be restricted to a number of<br />

guests for the social events.<br />

Entries shall be registered by payment date and time, and will be published on<br />

www.x-yachts.com.<br />

5. Entry<br />

Final date for entry is 15 May – or when the maximum number of registrations is<br />

reached. Payment should be settled 10 days after registration, at the latest.<br />

Entries will be finally confirmed on www.x-yachts.com not later than 22 May.<br />

6. Entry Fee & Payment Details<br />

Family Class, small (incl X-37) 300 Euro<br />

Family Class, large 11.4 m and above 450 Euro<br />

Sport Class, small (incl X-37) 400 Euro<br />

Sport Class, large 11.4 m and above 550 Euro<br />

Over 50” 550 Euro<br />

Payment by credit card on www.x-yachts.com (Visa, Visa Electron and Mastercard).<br />

Late entries may be accepted with a 25% increase.<br />

Invoice to be sent on request.<br />

7. Social Registration & Catering<br />

A) Preliminary registration of participating crew members and guests shall be completed<br />

by 15 May on www.x-yachts.com.


B) Final catering registration and payment of participating crew members and<br />

guests shall be completed by 15 June on www.x-yachts.com.<br />

8. Registration upon Arrival<br />

Registration shall be completed at the race office located in the FSC-Clubhouse,<br />

Glücksburg – Quellental no later than 20.00 hours on Wednesday, 6 July. Race Office<br />

opens at 10.00 hrs on 6 July.<br />

9. Rules<br />

X-<strong>Yachts</strong> Gold Cup 2011 shall be governed by:<br />

• The 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).<br />

• The 2010-2011 ISAF Offshore Special Regulations, Category 4.<br />

• No national prescriptions will apply<br />

• Where there is conflict with this Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions shall<br />

prevail except that neither shall change nor alter any Class Rules.<br />

• X-35 International Class Rules.<br />

• The race committee reserves the right to change the program/sailing instructions.<br />

Changes will be posted on the official Notice Board which is located<br />

at the FSC-Clubhouse not later than 19.00 hrs. They will be effective<br />

the next day.<br />

10. Eligibility<br />

Participating yachts must be of X-<strong>Yachts</strong> design and origin. Any competitor shall not<br />

be under suspension of ISAF eligibility.<br />

Classes<br />

Classes may be established for a specific model according to entry level. Minimum<br />

six similar models are required to form a class. The organizers reserve the right to<br />

establish and change classes subject to entry levels. The number of established<br />

classes will be published on www.x-yachts.com not later than 15 June.<br />

Sails Wardrobe<br />

Family Class Mainsail and one headsail per race allowed. No Spinnaker.<br />

Sport Class Full sail wardrobe allowed<br />

X-35 According to Class Rules<br />

50+ Class The rules for Family Class/Sport Class are valid<br />

Certificates<br />

Family Class Certificates are not mandatory but requested<br />

Sport Class Certificates are not mandatory but requested<br />

IMX 40, IMX 45 Rating certificates are mandatory<br />

X-35 Measurement certificates are mandatory


12. X-<strong>Yachts</strong> Rating<br />

Valid for Family classes, Sport classes and 50 + class only<br />

Elapsed time corrections are calculated using the X-<strong>Yachts</strong> Rating provided by X-<br />

<strong>Yachts</strong>, Denmark. This is based on the ORC handicap system multiplied with the X-<br />

<strong>Yachts</strong>’ factor; time corrections are based on “Time on Distance”.<br />

13. Crew Weight<br />

Maximum crew weight for each yacht will be published on www.x-yachts.com not<br />

later than 15 June. Crew weights for X–35 according to class rules.<br />

There will be a mandatory crew-weight control for all crews on board of yachts participating<br />

in the X–35 championship. Crew weight control will take place on 6 July<br />

between 14.00 - 19.00 hrs and on 7 July between 08.00 – 09.30 hrs.<br />

15. Event Advertising<br />

In accordance with ISAF Regulation 20. Each yacht may be required to display<br />

event advertising on the bow. While not racing, all yachts are strongly urged to fly<br />

the event flag from the forestay.<br />

16. Entry/Bow numbers<br />

One set of bow numbers and a set of bow sponsor logos will be handed out at registration<br />

and shall be displayed as specified by the organizers.<br />

17. Race Area<br />

Racing will take place in the waters of Flensburg Fjord and Sonderburg bay.<br />

Courses will be defined in the Sailing Instruction. Intention is to sail windward/leeward<br />

courses, triangle courses and short offshore races. For X – 35 championship,<br />

the format will be windward/leeward courses.<br />

18. Berthing<br />

& Crane facilities<br />

Free berthing in Glücksburg Harbour from Sunday 3 July 12 pm to Sunday 10 July<br />

for participating X-<strong>Yachts</strong>. Each yacht will be assigned a mooring by the harbour<br />

master. The harbour master can be contacted on telephone on +49 4631 969 or<br />

19. Scoring<br />

Up to six races are scheduled in family, sports and invitational class. If more than<br />

three races are completed, the worst score will be discarded.<br />

Up to 8 races are scheduled in the X-35 class. If more than 4 races are completed,<br />

the worst score will be discarded. Three (3) races are required to be completed to<br />

constitute a valid <strong>Scandinavian</strong> <strong>Championship</strong>.<br />

Scoring will be made in accordance with RRS Appendix A2. The low points system<br />

will be used A4 – ties will be broken by the RRS Appendix A8.<br />

20. Jury<br />

A jury will be appointed by the organizers and will consist of a chairman and at<br />

least two other members. The jury members cannot be members of the race committee.<br />

21. Prizes<br />

The Overall Winner will be awarded the X-<strong>Yachts</strong> Gold Cup 2011 Trophy.<br />

Prizes will be awarded to the Family Class, Sport Class, 50+Class and the X-35<br />

Class. Other prizes will be awarded. There will be daily prizes and all participating<br />

yachts will receive a framed photo of their yacht.<br />

22. Class & Handicap Information<br />

An X-<strong>Yachts</strong> rating will be given to each yacht. The rating is based on the information<br />

registered on your entry form. The ratings will be published on www.xyachts.com<br />

in due time before the regatta and displayed on the official notice board<br />

at the race office on Wednesday 6 July.<br />

Any protests regarding the given X-<strong>Yachts</strong> rating shall be put forward in due time<br />

and not later than 19.00 hours on Wednesday 6 July. Ratings shall not be changed<br />

after the first start.<br />

It is the responsibility of the owner/registered participating skipper to ensure that<br />

the participating yacht does not infringe with the information given on the entry<br />

form. In matter of doubt, please contact an authorized inspector/measurer in due<br />

time before the regatta.<br />

23. Rating Certificates<br />

All participating IMX 40s and IMX 45s in the Sport Class shall produce a valid<br />

ORC/IRC rating certificate (mandatory). The X-35s shall produce a valid measurement<br />

certificate according to class rules (mandatory). For all other X-<strong>Yachts</strong> a valid<br />

certificate is requested, but not mandatory. The certificate shall be faxed to +45<br />

7453 0397 or e-mailed to tpf@x-yachts.com not later than 1 June.<br />

24. Crew lists<br />

At registration, a crew list will be handed out. All participating yachts shall fill in this<br />

crew list with the required data as name of crew members, weights etc. The list<br />

shall be returned to the Race Office not later than 20.00 hrs on Wednesday 6 July.


25. Measurement and Inspection<br />

Random yacht and equipment inspections may be conducted prior to, between<br />

races and after racing each day to check for compliance with the NOR, the 2010-<br />

2011 ISAF Offshore Special Regulations, Category 4 and Class Rules.<br />

Random checks on crew weights may be conducted prior to the races in Family and<br />

Sport classes.<br />

The X-35 class will be handled according to Class Rules C.2.2 “Weights”.<br />

26. Sailing Instruction<br />

Sailing Instructions will be available at the race office from 10.00 hrs on Wednesday<br />

6 July.<br />

27. Haul-Out Restrictions<br />

All yachts participating shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and<br />

according to terms of prior written permission of the International Jury.<br />

28. Radio Communication<br />

A yacht shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications<br />

not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile<br />

phones. The Race Committee will use VHF Channels 15 and 17 for information to<br />

competitors.<br />

29. Official Language<br />

The official language of the regatta is English. Danish and German may be used as<br />

a service. In case of dispute over translation the English text shall prevail.<br />

30. Disclaimer of Liability<br />

Competitors participate in the X-<strong>Yachts</strong> Gold Cup 2011 entirely at their own risk.<br />

Specific attention is drawn to the RRS, Part 1, rule 4, Decision to Race: “The responsibility<br />

for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers<br />

alone”. The organizing authority, the FSC, X-<strong>Yachts</strong> A/S, the sponsors and any person<br />

or entity in the organisation of the event shall not accept any liability of material<br />

damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to,<br />

during, or after the regatta, both on the water and ashore.<br />

All competitors shall acknowledge this by signing the Disclaimer and Acknowledgement<br />

of Rights Form provided by the Organizing Authority.<br />

German law shall prevail.<br />

31. Insurance<br />

Each participating boat shall be insured with a valid third-party liability insurance of<br />

minimum €1,000,000. A copy of the insurance certificate shall be sent to X-<strong>Yachts</strong><br />

A/S not later than 1 July.
