Thank You!
On behalf of the Marianist
community here at Lusaka,
Zambia, I want to thank you
all at St Luke’s Parish for
such generosity. We are
amazed at the outpouring of
religious articles, rosaries,
religious medals, statues,
holy cards, religious pictures,
etc. and Sudoko puzzles. This
bottomless pit here in Africa
just might be starting to get
filled with your help. Thank
you so much again, and I
hope to see you all in two or
three years when I come
home for another visit. You
are all in my daily prayers.
Fr. Mike Nartker, S.M.
Sunday Offertory Enhancement Initiative to Begin: Between
Aug 2010 and Dec 2011, all parishes in the Archdiocese are to
participate in a 9-week program to increase weekly offerings. The
program includes bulletin and pulpit announcements, several
mailings to parishioners and briefs talks at mass. Mindful of the
state of the economy, Pastoral Council recommended Saint Luke
participate between Sep 25-26 and Nov 20-21. The effort is twofold:
appeal message and parishioner response. Pastoral Council
acknowledges with gratitude both past and present parishioner
generosity. The appeal will ask everyone to prayerfully consider
their current level of giving and whether that amount is still appropriate
or can be increased in their circumstance.
CALL TO ADORATION
October and the New Life Retreat will be starting before we
know it. The Holy Spirit was truly present, as we evident, in the
response to our last retreat. As is so true in the Christian life,
prayer, for those attending, before the Blessed Sacrament is a
key to each human soul being receptive to the prompting of the
Holy Spirit. To wit, in support of this fall’s event, we are encouraging
parishioners to participate in Eucharistic prayer before
the Blessed Sacrament. A schedule is available for sign-up.
Please call Pat Licher at 878-3022.
2010 IS THE YEAR OF THE NURSE!
As we are working hard to establish a Health Ministry at St.
opportunity to rejoice our profession with others who dedicate
their lives for the service of those in need. Please contact Ann
register as St. Luke's Catholic Church Health Ministry Team
so as to be a premier health ministry team. Registration form
and $20 are due asap to reserve a seat and dinner. Also, it is an
excellent opportunity to ask another nurse to join our group as
we start our new journey as a Health Ministry Team.
HEALTH MINISTRY TEAM
or parish nurses) is in need of volunteers to provide service,
