A Good Article
Is worth striking for. And in nothing is this
better illustrated than in Footwear.
Ten cents taken out of the sole, and fifteen
cents taken out of the upper, in the factory,
makes the biggest kind of a difference when the
Shoe is put into actual service. It's wise iu the
end to spend the extra twenty-fiv- e cents and
thusj secure security lor your feet and pocket-boo- k.
There are heaps of job lots sold at $2.49 a
pair, when an outlay of a few cents more would
secure for you the real article.
Don't be led away by odd figures. A Shoe
dealer with a reputation to sustain caunot afford
at any time to put out a shoe that will not sustain
this reputation of value.
THE POWER
Co
OF HABIT
A certain groove is easily fallen into; due to the fact of unconsious
action. Many will preform the samejact repeatedly, not thinking that
a change might make matters less ardous and more beneficial, Habit
is caused by lack of interest, and people through habit often miss
opportunities of advantage. Thepractice !of buying without considering
is a fault, due to habit. Many dollars could be saved if people were
less inclined to stay in the" same old groove.
To educators the names of Colonel
and Mrs.T'arker are household words,
and they must be to many others.
How the colonel Is regarded by the
United States government will be
understood from .the following letter
which was received by the Commis
sioners of Education.
Department of the Interior, 1'iireau
of Education.
Washington, May. 17, 180S.
This will introduce Colonel Francis
Y. Parker, principal of the Chicago
Normal school, who visits Honolulu
the present summer to conduct an
Institute.
Colonel Parker is one of the best
known educators in the United States.
His lectures on education are calculated
to arouse reflection on the fundamental
principles of teaching and
stimulate those who hear him to the
Invention of new methods of reaching
and developing the child mind.
Colonel Parkers labors at Quiqcv,
Mass., and as supervisor of the Boston
schools, and later for fifteen years in
tlie Cook County Normal school in
Chicago, form a large part of the his
