Kilning – materials are, where appropriate, kiln dried to
achieve optimum consistency and performance, so that
once installed, the cladding not only looks attractive but
does exactly what it should. The process of kilning can also
help in the handling and fixing of the timber, as it helps to
reduce the weight by drawing away excess moisture.
Machining – there is already a wide range of choices when
it comes to the profiles for external cladding, and we hold
a good range of these materials in stock at any one time.
However, we also have the facility to machine bespoke
profiles to a specific pattern should this be required.
Fire Treatment – where the application of the product
requires that the cladding be treated to help reduce any
likelihood of fire, we can ensure that the goods are
pre-treated and delivered to site ready to fix. If you need to
comply with Building Regulations on fire protection, our
partner Arch Timber Protection, offers a range of industrial
pre-treatments for timber and related substrates at its Fire
Retardant Treatment Centre.
Fully / part finished – as we all know, time is money,
which is why at Arnold Laver Timber World we have access
to a complete range of finishing solutions to meet your
requirements. By providing you with a finished product,
we can reduce the installation time as well as ensure
that the finish is both colour correct and to the required
standard. Our partner Akzo Nobel specialises in the
development and supply of innovative protection
products, Sikkens among others, to meet stringent
industry and regulatory demands.
A Family Of Products...
Smartside is a treated engineered wood siding product,
that is a blend of wood strands, water-resistant resins, wax
and zinc borate. This stable construction is completed with
a tough Kraft paper overlay, which provides the effect of a
natural timber-grained texture along with great strength,
stability and durability.
Smartside
Smartside provides the natural warmth of wood with the
added advantage of extra long panels and a warranty that
lasts up to 30 years. Manufactured from exterior grade
0SB, the material can be cut and machined like wood and
is available in a range of colours that are factory finished
and complemented with an extensive range of accessories
such as fascias, soffits, trims and colour-match nails. The
surface finish is guaranteed for 12, 15 or 25 years
depending on your preferred option.
Siberian Larch (Larix Decidua)
Larch is the perfect cladding material for projects such
as schools, walkways, commercial and public areas where
a high impact, durable, attractive product is required.
The colour of larch can vary from golden brown to pale
yellow and with its easy workability it lends itself to
drilling sawing and sanding.
ThermoWood®
ThermoWood® is a physically engineered timber that
is produced by specialist heat treating Scandinavian
Redwood/Whitewood. It is this alteration in structure
that results in a more stable, anti-fungal timber ideal
for use in exterior applications.
Canadian Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata)
Western Red Cedar, with its unique range of properties
including workability, performance, versatility and weather
resistant characteristics, have propelled this timber to
become the number one choice in cladding, for architects
and specifiers. This timber has excellent stability and is
ideal for outdoor projects, with its inherent resistance to
decay and fungal attacks. It is also able to dampen sound
vibrations and has superior thermal insulation properties.
Visually this is a beautiful timber, with colour variations
from pale honey through to a deep rich brown. Left to
weather naturally, Cedar will turn an attractive silver grey
colour. Our wide range of products is further extended,
by stocking Cedar Shingles, for use in roofing and the
cladding of vertical surfaces.
Accoya
Accoya is a ‘new wood species’ whose performance
credentials have been extensively researched and
repeatedly demonstrated. It is a product that has
properties, which match those of the best tropical
hardwoods, yet, it is manufactured using a non-toxic
acetylisation treatment and wood from sustainable
sources. With Class 1 durability, dimensional stability,
resistance to mould and insects and ease in machining,
andthe treatment provides a life expectancy externally
of 50/60 years unprotected with surface coatings.
Accoya represents a significant step forward in wood
technology. This is the ideal material for exterior
cladding, providing improved life expectancy of
surface coatings for up to 10 years.
