Welcome to a world of inspiration
bringing you the finest quality and
choice of cladding products
At Arnold Laver Timber World we have been working with timber
for over eighty years, and we recognise that the appeal of natural
materials such as wood, is based partly on its inherent beauty
and strength. This is demonstrated in the growing popularity and
appreciation of timber when it is used for the cladding of a building,
whether it is a private property or a commercial application.
A Single-source Solution...
we have developed what we believe is a first class
product and service offer, which combined, provides
our customers with a single-source solution for all their
cladding requirements. Ranging from advice on materials
and designs through to installation, coating application
and planned maintenance.
Match Your Budget...
as timber experts we are able to utilise our extensive
sourcing and procurement network to obtain the right
products at the right prices. This in turn allows us to offer
a broad range of products, which will provide an effective,
attractive and affordable offer, which will match your
budget.
Timber Experts...
Arnold Laver Timber World has experience of supplying
timber since 1920. Our reputation and expertise is second
to none. We take great pride in our ability to provide no
nonsense advice and guidance throughout the entire
specification and purchasing process – we are here to help,
and make this the focus of our approach in providing what
the customer needs.
Environmental Responsibilities...
we are always thinking about the environment and
our responsibilities to ensure that we play our part in
helping to promote responsible purchasing. To this end
we are signatories to the UK Timber Trade Federation’s
Responsible Purchasing Policy, and also look to ensure
that all of our cladding products are purchased from
suppliers who are accredited with one of the
internationally recognised schemes –
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) – www.fsc-uk.org
Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Control
(PEFC) – www.pefc.org
Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) – www.afandpa.org
Canadian Standards Association (CSA) – www.csa.ca
At Arnold Laver Timber World we actively support and
promote the legal and sustainable timber certification
schemes and endeavour to source all of our timber
materials in an ethical manner. All of our cladding
products are covered by one of these certification schemes
and all our main Timber World branches have third party
audited Chain of Custody accreditation providing you
and your customer with peace of mind.
All Of The Products And Services You Will Need...
we are here to make the purchasing and installation of
cladding as easy as possible, so we work hard to ensure
that all aspects of both our material and service offer
are something you can rely on. We have developed our
products over time, to cover the wide range of cladding
materials available. This, together with a full family of
services, provides our customer base with an offer that
Kilning – materials are, where appropriate, kiln dried to
achieve optimum consistency and performance, so that
once installed, the cladding not only looks attractive but
does exactly what it should. The process of kilning can also
help in the handling and fixing of the timber, as it helps to
reduce the weight by drawing away excess moisture.
Machining – there is already a wide range of choices when
it comes to the profiles for external cladding, and we hold
a good range of these materials in stock at any one time.
However, we also have the facility to machine bespoke
profiles to a specific pattern should this be required.
Fire Treatment – where the application of the product
requires that the cladding be treated to help reduce any
likelihood of fire, we can ensure that the goods are
pre-treated and delivered to site ready to fix. If you need to
comply with Building Regulations on fire protection, our
partner Arch Timber Protection, offers a range of industrial
pre-treatments for timber and related substrates at its Fire
Retardant Treatment Centre.
Fully / part finished – as we all know, time is money,
which is why at Arnold Laver Timber World we have access
to a complete range of finishing solutions to meet your
requirements. By providing you with a finished product,
we can reduce the installation time as well as ensure
that the finish is both colour correct and to the required
standard. Our partner Akzo Nobel specialises in the
development and supply of innovative protection
products, Sikkens among others, to meet stringent
industry and regulatory demands.
A Family Of Products...
Smartside is a treated engineered wood siding product,
that is a blend of wood strands, water-resistant resins, wax
and zinc borate. This stable construction is completed with
a tough Kraft paper overlay, which provides the effect of a
natural timber-grained texture along with great strength,
stability and durability.
Smartside
Smartside provides the natural warmth of wood with the
added advantage of extra long panels and a warranty that
lasts up to 30 years. Manufactured from exterior grade
0SB, the material can be cut and machined like wood and
is available in a range of colours that are factory finished
and complemented with an extensive range of accessories
such as fascias, soffits, trims and colour-match nails. The
surface finish is guaranteed for 12, 15 or 25 years
depending on your preferred option.
Siberian Larch (Larix Decidua)
Larch is the perfect cladding material for projects such
as schools, walkways, commercial and public areas where
a high impact, durable, attractive product is required.
The colour of larch can vary from golden brown to pale
yellow and with its easy workability it lends itself to
drilling sawing and sanding.
ThermoWood®
ThermoWood® is a physically engineered timber that
is produced by specialist heat treating Scandinavian
Redwood/Whitewood. It is this alteration in structure
that results in a more stable, anti-fungal timber ideal
for use in exterior applications.
Canadian Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata)
Western Red Cedar, with its unique range of properties
including workability, performance, versatility and weather
resistant characteristics, have propelled this timber to
become the number one choice in cladding, for architects
and specifiers. This timber has excellent stability and is
ideal for outdoor projects, with its inherent resistance to
decay and fungal attacks. It is also able to dampen sound
vibrations and has superior thermal insulation properties.
Visually this is a beautiful timber, with colour variations
from pale honey through to a deep rich brown. Left to
weather naturally, Cedar will turn an attractive silver grey
colour. Our wide range of products is further extended,
by stocking Cedar Shingles, for use in roofing and the
cladding of vertical surfaces.
Accoya
Accoya is a ‘new wood species’ whose performance
credentials have been extensively researched and
repeatedly demonstrated. It is a product that has
properties, which match those of the best tropical
hardwoods, yet, it is manufactured using a non-toxic
acetylisation treatment and wood from sustainable
sources. With Class 1 durability, dimensional stability,
resistance to mould and insects and ease in machining,
andthe treatment provides a life expectancy externally
of 50/60 years unprotected with surface coatings.
Accoya represents a significant step forward in wood
technology. This is the ideal material for exterior
cladding, providing improved life expectancy of
surface coatings for up to 10 years.
Hardwood
Various durable species of hardwood are suitable for
cladding, including Cumaru, Red Louro and Ipe, which are
also available as FSC Certified.
