Kantata<br />
On average, <strong>Audioplan</strong> introduces a new speaker model every 10 years. Simply because it is<br />
usually better to develop what‘s already tried and proven rather than reinvent the wheel.<br />
Different is not automatically better. And a new speaker has to be substantially better before it<br />
earns the <strong>Audioplan</strong> logo. The Kantata not only offers a better sound than the Kontrapunkt,<br />
which has been legendary in professional circles for almost three decades, it is also easier to<br />
drive and is more flexible in positioning. Compact and powerful sound, Kantata.<br />
Technical details:<br />
Compact speaker for integration into the living room or free-standing placement on<br />
acoustically tuned aluminum pedestals. 2-way bass reflex system with long-throw, bassmidrange<br />
chassis. This provides large reserves at low frequencies. Membrane of woven and<br />
bonded synthetic fibers with an optimal ratio of mass, stiffness and damping. Tweeter with low<br />
resonance, coated fabric dome with optimized suspension for minimal loss. Reinforced<br />
enclosure of 19 mm HDF with newly developed WRC system for controlling and diverting<br />
vibration energy of the bass-midrange system. WRC thus provides a clearer, more dynamic<br />
sound with enhanced fine resolution. Crossover with minimal losses, matched to components of<br />
the highest quality such as film-foil capacitors and coils with copper cross-sections up to 3 mm2.<br />
The labyrinth-like damping of the enclosure with press-formed panels of wool felt ensures<br />
undamped transfer of bass energy to reflex port for optimal damping of the midrange. The<br />
speaker is coupled to the floor or pedestal with <strong>Audioplan</strong> AntiSpikes.<br />

<strong>Audioplan</strong><br />
Kontrast V<br />
The Kontrast comes to market in a revised version V in 2007. An advanced tweeter with a newly<br />
designed crossover is used. We have consistently applied the latest knowledge of component<br />
design and fine tuning in all areas. The loudspeaker has gained a more relaxed sound in the<br />
midrange and demonstrates more re-solution, focus and credible spatial representation of the<br />
entire spectrum. The speaker brings together many positive characteristics. The Kontrast<br />
produces clean, deep bass from a compact enclosure. The linearized impedance of 8 Ohm<br />
poses no problem for amplifiers and is highly suited for tube amps. The high efficiency is helpful<br />
when it comes to the amp power – 20 Watts are sufficient. Thanks to the good balance of all<br />
properties, placement and room acoustics are not critical for the Kontrast. Extraordinary results<br />
can be achieved even under the most difficult acoustic conditions.<br />

2-way bass reflex system with a separate, mechanically decoupled enclosure for woofermidrange<br />
and tweeter. Separate crossovers for the two drivers, cast to prevent microphonics.<br />
The high frequency crossover is place in the tweeter enclosure and therefore optimally isolated<br />
from vibrations from the woofer. All components represent the highest level of quality and some<br />
have been especially produced for the Kontrast V. The enclosure is insulated with formstamped<br />
wool felt plates that form an acoustic labyrinth. This provides opti-mal damping of the<br />
midrange with the least amount of damping material and practically undampened transfer of<br />
the bass energy to the reflex aperture.<br />

Konzert III<br />
The Konzert III is a 2 1/2-way loudspeaker that combines the volume reserves and deep bass of<br />
a multiple driver system with the musicality and presence of a very good 2-way system.<br />
Numerous innovations such as RNS (Resonance Nulling System), the concept of the infinite<br />
virtual baffle or the complexly decoupled tweeter, serve one goal only: long-term listening<br />
pleasure with the highest level of perfection.<br />
Tecnical Details:<br />
Floor-standing loudspeaker with asymmetrically reinforced sandwich enclosure for optimum<br />
suppression of box resonances. Molded, partially from the fully milled baffle for phase<br />
compensation and the best radiation characteristics. Tweeter and corresponding crossover are<br />
mechanically decoupled from the main enclosure. A star-shaped perforated fleece prevents<br />
early reflections from the baffle. The tweeter enclosure is held in the back by a 10 mm thick<br />
aluminum star. The RNS system positions two identical drivers opposite one another so that only<br />
pressure fluctuations are conducted into the enclosure. The back driver with its pressure wave<br />
also presents a virtual infinite baffle to the front driver, which is thereby given optimal operating<br />
conditions. When we tuned the Konzert III, a lot of work flowed into pinpoint optimization of the<br />
enclosure damping. Form-stamped wool felt tiles with varying amounts of sound transparency<br />
are thus used in the speaker to achieve just the right amount of damping at a specific location.<br />
The smallest pieces are only a few square centimeters in size, and yet they clearly contribute to<br />
the overall result. With this new damping method, the efficiency of the Konzert III in the bass<br />
range has been increased by 1 dB. There is substantially more control and contour in<br />
foundation and structure of the bass. The crossover has been completely revamped as well.<br />
One reason was to adapt it to the modified bass-midrange, and another reason was to<br />
incorporate the latest findings related to tuning and balancing of component audio properties.<br />

This includes the discovery that bi-wiring and not tri-wiring represents optimal cabling. The<br />
speaker was fitted with a bi-wring terminal and the midrange-adjust was removed to shorten<br />
the signal path. With clever combination of components, we were able to use fewer parts<br />
without having to make compromises in regard to the frequency response or radiation<br />
characteristics. All components are hard-wired, the cabling is realized with the <strong>Audioplan</strong><br />
MusiCable LS8 MkII CRC.<br />
