There are several factors responsible for this impressive growth.<br />

Turkish DO & CO, the Turkish joint venture in which DO & CO <strong>and</strong> Turkish Airlines<br />

each hold a 50 % stake, is included in the consolidated accounts for the entire business<br />

year for the first time in this reporting period (it was included last year for only one<br />

quarter).<br />

Turkish DO & CO further strengthened its position as market leader in airline catering<br />

in Turkey. Approximately 1,400 employees prepared nearly 27 million meals at the<br />

new business locations in Istanbul Atatürk, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen, Ankara, Antalya,<br />

Izmir, Bodrum, Adana, Dalaman <strong>and</strong> Trabzon.<br />

Growth has been stimulated considerably by the return catering the Turkish DO & CO<br />

business locations provide on a number of short <strong>and</strong> medium flights operated by Turkish<br />

Airlines. As a result, DO & CO now services an increasingly large share of Turkish Airlines’<br />

outward <strong>and</strong> return flights on short <strong>and</strong> medium-distance routes. A major development<br />

in this context in 2007/2008 is the daily long-distance flight now operating<br />

from Istanbul to New York.<br />

DO & CO significantly increased the customer satisfaction of Turkish Airlines passengers<br />

(from 49 % to 89 %) with its introduction of a new on-board product. Business<br />

passengers on long-distance flights now enjoy an appealing buffet featuring antipasti,<br />

fresh salads, exquisite international <strong>and</strong> Turkish main dishes, <strong>and</strong> a selection of fresh<br />

desserts <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>made petits fours. Economy passengers are served freshly prepared<br />

local <strong>and</strong> international specialty dishes.<br />

The local sales team has forged ties with a number of new national <strong>and</strong> international<br />

clients <strong>and</strong> stepped up business with existing customers. Azerbaijan Airlines, European<br />

Airpost, AirBlue, <strong>and</strong> Freebird were all added to the clientele of Turkish DO & CO. With<br />

its concept of fresh products <strong>and</strong> premium meals, Turkish DO & CO has solidified its<br />

market position <strong>and</strong> become even more attractive.<br />

The positive business trend in Airline Catering in Austria also boosted growth considerably<br />

<strong>and</strong> contributed to this division’s fine performance.<br />

The Austrian Airlines Group, a key account since the fourth quarter of the previous<br />

year, greatly increased the volume <strong>and</strong> value of Airline Catering business.<br />

DO & CO services all flights of the Austrian Airlines Group in Vienna, Linz, Graz <strong>and</strong><br />

Salzburg <strong>and</strong> thus h<strong>and</strong>les airline catering for more than 10 million passengers <strong>and</strong><br />

80,000 departures.<br />

Along with classic services like supplying meals <strong>and</strong> beverages <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>ling <strong>and</strong> storing<br />

equipment, DO & CO now also performs a full range of agency services for the<br />

Austrian Airlines Group.<br />
