Clare jo<strong>in</strong>ed the SRA <strong>in</strong> 2006 and currently works with<strong>in</strong> the supervision<br />

unit. Clare manages a team of supervisors who are responsible <strong>for</strong> the<br />

risk-based oversight of the entire regulated community and central <strong>to</strong> the delivery of the<br />

outcomes-focused approach <strong>to</strong> regulation. As part of the management group, Clare also<br />

provides coach<strong>in</strong>g support, technical leadership and operational delivery <strong>to</strong> the unit.

Frans Post, chief operat<strong>in</strong>g officer,<br />

Gates and Partners<br />

Frans jo<strong>in</strong>ed Clif<strong>for</strong>d Chance <strong>in</strong> 1990 and spent 17 years as<br />

their f<strong>in</strong>ance direc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>in</strong> Amsterdam and New York. After leav<strong>in</strong>g the States <strong>for</strong> London, he jo<strong>in</strong>ed<br />

Olswang as CFO be<strong>for</strong>e becom<strong>in</strong>g COO at niche aviation firm, Gates and Partners <strong>in</strong> 2011. <strong>The</strong><br />

firm has 24 partners and offices <strong>in</strong> London, Brussels, Dubai and S<strong>in</strong>gapore. Frans has been<br />

<strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> a number of mergers throughout his career and will be able <strong>to</strong> provide valuable <strong>in</strong>sights<br />

from his current experience.<br />

Jenny Pell<strong>in</strong>g, bus<strong>in</strong>ess direc<strong>to</strong>r, CILEx Law School<br />

Jenny qualified as a solici<strong>to</strong>r and practised employment <strong>law</strong> at a City<br />

firm be<strong>for</strong>e mov<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> legal education. Jenny has worked <strong>for</strong> CILEx<br />

Law School s<strong>in</strong>ce 2004, and is a direc<strong>to</strong>r of its board. Part of her role<br />

<strong>in</strong>volves responsibility <strong>for</strong> creat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>-house paralegal and apprenticeship programmes <strong>for</strong> legal<br />

organisations and help<strong>in</strong>g with their staff development strategies. In the past twelve months,<br />

she has been heavily <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> the development work <strong>for</strong> the new government funded legal<br />

apprenticeship qualifications.<br />

Jitendra Valera, chief market<strong>in</strong>g officer, IRIS Legal<br />

Jitendra (JV) has a wealth of software and legal market experience,<br />

hav<strong>in</strong>g successfully developed and managed enterprise software, services and <strong>in</strong>ternet companies<br />

<strong>in</strong> the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific. As chief market<strong>in</strong>g officer at IRIS Legal, JV has responsibility <strong>for</strong><br />

sett<strong>in</strong>g the strategic direction <strong>for</strong> the bus<strong>in</strong>ess and the development and market<strong>in</strong>g of IRIS Legal’s<br />

range of software and services solutions <strong>for</strong> the legal market. Prior <strong>to</strong> IRIS Legal, JV also served as<br />

VP global strategy & market<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> Elite and executive direc<strong>to</strong>r, legal onl<strong>in</strong>e at Sweet & Maxwell.<br />

Joanne Orms<strong>to</strong>n, <strong>practice</strong> manager, Pearson H<strong>in</strong>chliffe<br />

Joanne has worked as <strong>practice</strong> manager <strong>for</strong> Pearson H<strong>in</strong>chliffe s<strong>in</strong>ce<br />

Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 2004 hav<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>itially been recruited as a legal cashier <strong>in</strong> 2002.<br />

Joanne’s role encompasses everyth<strong>in</strong>g from strategic plann<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

implementation, HR, IT, facilities management, compliance (as deputy COLP & COFA) and more<br />

recently as the f<strong>in</strong>ance direc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>for</strong> an eight partner, three office ABS firm <strong>in</strong> the north-west. Joanne<br />

is a chartered management accountant and has a BSc honours degree <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess management.

Mandy has been <strong>practice</strong> manager <strong>for</strong> Barker Gotelee – a six partner<br />

firm <strong>in</strong> Suffolk – <strong>for</strong> two years. In her first year she implemented a new <strong>practice</strong> management<br />

system and more recently has led a comprehensive review of the firm’s IT. She works with<br />

market<strong>in</strong>g and general office functions. Mandy is a chartered accountant with many years of<br />

Breeze & Wyles Solici<strong>to</strong>rs<br />

Martyn is the <strong>practice</strong> manager <strong>for</strong> Breeze & Wyles – a n<strong>in</strong>e partner firm with four offices <strong>in</strong><br />

Hert<strong>for</strong>dshire and north London. Martyn leads bus<strong>in</strong>ess plann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> the firm and heads the<br />

adm<strong>in</strong>istration department which deals with the firm’s premises, people, IT systems and accounts;<br />

he is also the firm’s compliance officer <strong>for</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ance and adm<strong>in</strong>istration and money launder<strong>in</strong>g<br />

report<strong>in</strong>g officer. Martyn’s early career was <strong>in</strong> the courts service serv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> crown and county courts<br />

throughout the Midlands be<strong>for</strong>e a short spell as a bus<strong>in</strong>ess management consultant.<br />

Matthew Briggs, CEO, Brilliant Law<br />

CEO Matthew Briggs is a non-<strong>law</strong>yer bus<strong>in</strong>ess leader with broad experience<br />

of runn<strong>in</strong>g and develop<strong>in</strong>g successful consumer-led bus<strong>in</strong>esses. A <strong>for</strong>mer<br />

CEO of M<strong>in</strong>ster Law and Capita Insurance Services, Matthew is also direc<strong>to</strong>r of Wigster.com – the world’s<br />

first and <strong>only</strong> legal services price comparison bus<strong>in</strong>ess. New alternative bus<strong>in</strong>ess structure Brilliant Law,<br />

Paul Lowe, operations direc<strong>to</strong>r and head<br />

Paul is operations direc<strong>to</strong>r and head of risk and compliance at Darbys<br />

Solici<strong>to</strong>rs LLP, a 23 partner <strong>law</strong> firm with four offices <strong>in</strong> Ox<strong>for</strong>dshire, Essex and Manchester. Hav<strong>in</strong>g<br />

been <strong>to</strong> <strong>The</strong> House of Lords and <strong>The</strong> European Court of Human Rights as a litigation <strong>law</strong>yer,<br />

Paul decided <strong>to</strong> switch <strong>to</strong> full-time management <strong>in</strong> 2002. Along with be<strong>in</strong>g the firm’s COLP, Paul<br />

Paul is a non-<strong>law</strong>yer manag<strong>in</strong>g partner at Bott & Co, which he co-founded<br />

<strong>in</strong> 2001 with David Bott and Gary Froggatt. In this role, Paul is responsible<br />

<strong>for</strong> all aspects of operations, IT and human resources. With a keen <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> technology,<br />

Paul sees his primary role as ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and develop<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>frastructure necessary <strong>to</strong> support<br />

Richard Brown has now spent over 30 years <strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>surance <strong>in</strong>dustry with<br />

over 20 of those specialis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> professional <strong>in</strong>demnity <strong>in</strong>surance. Richard is a<br />

direc<strong>to</strong>r of Prime Risk Solutions with specific responsibility <strong>for</strong> sole practitioners<br />

Hart Reade Solici<strong>to</strong>rs<br />

Robert jo<strong>in</strong>ed Hart Reade <strong>in</strong> January 2013, a n<strong>in</strong>e partner, three<br />

Robert has worked exclusively with <strong>law</strong> <strong>firms</strong> <strong>for</strong> the last 20 years<br />

and has worked with close <strong>to</strong> 1,000 <strong>firms</strong> <strong>in</strong> 40 countries. He is a tra<strong>in</strong>er and consultant who helps<br />

<strong>firms</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>in</strong>crease profitability. In a market with severe fee pressure he can help <strong>firms</strong> <strong>to</strong> reduce<br />

costs without dilut<strong>in</strong>g quality and show them how alternative fees can be beneficial <strong>to</strong> both the<br />

Admitted as a solici<strong>to</strong>r <strong>in</strong> 1986, Tim is also a fellow of the Institute of Risk<br />

Management. He is a specialist <strong>in</strong> risk management, compliance and professional<br />

<strong>in</strong>demnity <strong>in</strong>surance (PII). Through his niche consult<strong>in</strong>g company, PNCR Legal, he<br />
