no denying that Peter is a doting father to their children

Throughout the fi rst half of 2009, there are reports of
friction within the marriage, but Katie and Peter insist
they are rock solid. Later, reports emerge suggesting that
they have not had sex for two years. Katie starts going
out on the town, much to the delight of the paparazzi.
Alarm bells ring. Teetotal Peter has previously said he is
uncomfortable with Katie’s taste for wild nights out. In
his autobiography, he writes: “I trust her when she’s sober,
but I don’t trust her when she’s drinking.”
The fi nal straw is a night out at Flamingos nightclub
in Bristol during which Katie is photographed in the
company of dressage trainer Andrew Gould. Later, in a
TV interview with Piers Morgan, she claims Peter was
madly jealous of her relationship with Gould, which she
insists is entirely platonic.
IT’S OFFICIAL
Even after this furore, both Katie and Peter vigorously
deny persistent rumours of marital discord. They even
claim to be thinking of trying for another baby. But on
13 May a spokesperson ends the speculation, confi rming
that the couple have split.
The statement reads: “Peter Andre and Katie Price are
separating after four-and-a-half years of marriage. They
have both requested that the media respect their families’
privacy at this diffi cult time.” Which could rank as the
funniest joke of 2009.
In a bizarre twist, around the same time, ITV2 viewers
get to watch uncomfortable footage of the fi nal throes
of the relationship, including one excruciating row in
which Katie calls Peter “an old f***ing singer no one
knows about” while he retaliates by branding her a “stupid,
arrogant cow”.
WHAT KATIE DID VEXED
Katie and Peter fl ee to different corners of the globe – he
to Cyprus, and she to the Maldives and the luxury
£2,800-a-night villa in the Conrad Rangali resort where
the couple spent their honeymoon.
Katie is said to be “pining” for Peter, telling her army
of Twitter followers that she misses him. “I’m still keeping
a dignifi ed silence,” she writes. “I have made no comments,
they are made up. I’m heartbroken. I never wanted
any of this. We all miss Pete.”
