1/I New Year’s concert “Händel Gala” in the <strong>Estonia</strong> Concert Hall. Performers:<br />
<strong>Estonia</strong>n Philharmonic Chamber Choir (EPCC) and <strong>Estonia</strong>n National<br />
Symphony Orchestra (ENSO), conducted by Daniel Reuss. Soloists: Malin<br />
Christensson (soprano, Sweden) and Thomas Walker (tenor, Great Britain).<br />
9/I Cantata “John from Damascus” by the first <strong>Estonia</strong>n professional composer<br />
Rudolf Tobias was performed as part of the concert series “Goldpool of <strong>Estonia</strong>n<br />
Music”. Performers: Ellerhein Girls’ Choir, <strong>Estonia</strong>n National Male Choir<br />
(ENMC) and ENSO, conducted by Mikhail Gerts. Soloists: Natalia Lomeiko,<br />
Heli Veskus, Helen Lokuta, Oliver Kuusik, Jassi Zahharov and Taavi Tampuu.<br />
10/I World first performance of Symphony No. 4 by Arvo Pärt in Los Angeles.<br />
Performers: Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor: Esa-Pekka Salonen.<br />
11/I Tallinn Song Festival Ground glass hall hosted a concert of the Musician<br />
of the Year, elected by <strong>Estonia</strong>n Public Broadcasting. Performer: Ellerhein Girls’<br />
Choir, conducted by Musician of the Year 2008 Tiia-Ester Loitme.<br />
12–31/I Joint festival of the <strong>Estonia</strong>n Arnold Schoenberg Society Pärnu<br />
Contemporary Music Days and Academia Non Grata INGraafika, held in Pärnu,<br />
Tõrva, Tartu and Tallinn (Artistic Directors: Andrus Kallastu, Mart Jaanson<br />
and Märt-Matis Lill).<br />
22/I Laureates of the Year 2008 <strong>Estonia</strong>n Wind Instrument Competition<br />
Oksana Sinkova (flute) and Andres Kontus (trombone) with Tallinn Chamber<br />
Orchestra (TCO), conducted by Toomas Vavilov performed in the concert series<br />
“Young Talents”.<br />
23–15/I Tõnu Kaljuste introduced Arvo Pärt’s choral music at the Choral<br />
