The tour continued in Italy, where concerts of Rahkmaninov’s “All-Night Mass”<br />
were given at the Bressanone and Merano churches on April 7 and 8. The choir<br />
also performed at Osterfestival Tirol in Austria on April 8.<br />

14–19/IV ETV Youth Choir, conducted by Külli Kiivet, won the Grand Prix<br />
and the Best Programme, Best Interpretation and Best Mandatory Song awards<br />
at the international 45 th Montreux Choral Festival 2009 in Switzerland.<br />
16/IV European first performance of Arvo Pärt’s Symphony No. 4 at<br />
Finlandiatalo in Helsinki. Performed by Helsinki City Orchestra, conductor:<br />
Gem Mansur.<br />
16–17/IV XI International Choir Festival Tallinn 2009 had 40 participating<br />
choirs with over 1200 singers from nine countries. Grand Prix was give to<br />
Ellerhein Girls’ Choir (conductor: Tiia-Ester Loitme).<br />
16–20/IV XIII <strong>Estonia</strong>n Music Days 2009. A festival<br />
of <strong>Estonia</strong>n Composers’ Union. (Artistic Directors: Timo<br />
Steiner and Ülo Krigul). Over 30 first performances,<br />
including the portrait programme of Erkki-Sven Tüür<br />
“Searching for Tüür” and many others.<br />

International Jazz Festival<br />
Jazzkaar (Artistic Director: Anne Erm). Concerts were<br />
held in Tallinn, Tartu, Viljandi, Pärnu, Haapsalu, Saku,<br />
Rõuge, Kuressaare, Paide, Elva, Türi and Rapla. Top<br />
musicians from 15 countries performed at 57 concerts,<br />
attended by 15 000 visitors.<br />
30/IV First performance of Rein Rannap’s composition for piano and chamber<br />
orchestra “Kellapomm ja pommikell” (Clock Bomb and Clock Weight) at the<br />
concert “Volbriõhtune klaveripalavik”, held in the new KUMU Art Museum.<br />
Performers: the author and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.<br />
MAY<br />
4–5/V Students, postgraduates and the symphony orchestra of EAMT<br />
performed Mozart’s opera ”The Pretend Garden-Maid”. Director: Thomas<br />
