Change in treatment plan if <strong>involuntary</strong> treatment ordered:<br />

The hospital <strong>and</strong> person may agree to changes in the treatment plan during<br />

the time period of an order for <strong>involuntary</strong> treatment.<br />

Any party may apply to the court to change or terminate the treatment plan.<br />

Person sentenced for a criminal act while under commitment:<br />

If a person is sentenced to a term of imprisonment in a county jail while<br />

under commitment, the chief administrative officer of the hospital must notify the<br />

sheriff of the <strong>hospitalization</strong> so that the sheriff may process the person to initiate<br />

the start of the sentence in a manner that disrupts the person’s <strong>hospitalization</strong> as<br />

little as possible.<br />

Recommitment<br />

__________________________________________________<br />

The hospital may apply for an additional period of commitment if it believes<br />

that the person needs continued <strong>involuntary</strong> <strong>hospitalization</strong>.<br />

The application must be filed no later than 21 days before the end of the<br />

original period of commitment.<br />

All other procedures for recommitment are the same as for an original<br />

commitment, except that a person may be recommitted for a period of up to 12<br />

months.<br />
