SULLIVAN UPPER SCHOOL, HOLYWOOD<br />

These regulations have been designed for the benefit of parents, pupils and the school. You are asked to cooperate<br />
and conform in order to maintain reasonable standards for every pupil. If you have any problems or<br />
difficulties in purchasing uniform you are invited to contact Miss A Dines [Vice-Principal] at school. We thank<br />
you for your co-operation in this important matter.<br />
A INDOOR WEAR<br />
Shoes Plain black laced leather shoes (not patent) with rounded toes. Heels should be 1-3<br />
cm high. Shoes should be regularly polished and boots should not be worn.<br />
These styles of girls’ shoes are acceptable<br />
These styles of girls’ shoes are NOT acceptable<br />
NO stiletto heels NO kitten heels NO ballet pump style shoe<br />
Please make sure that any shoes with heels are of a “block style” with<br />
at least an 1½ inch/3.5 cm base<br />
Socks Regulation school socks with coloured bands or black tights should be worn.<br />
Skirt Regulation six-gored mid-grey skirt of suitable<br />
length, the hem should be to the knee (see<br />
photograph)<br />
OR plain dark-grey trousers [available from<br />
Warnock’s, Lisburn Road].<br />
Blouse Plain white shirt or blouse.<br />
Optional Summer Uniform [Easter to Hallowe’en]<br />
A white open-neck, short-sleeved blouse with revers OR a white short-sleeved shirt/<br />
blouse with tie.<br />
Tie Regulation school tie.<br />
Pullover Regulation school black, plain, fine, machine-knitted, wool pullover with V-neck and<br />
[Years 8-12] school motif.<br />
Blazer Regulation school blazer with badge, in Melton cloth. Hooded tops are part of<br />
sportswear and as such should be worn for PE and Games only.<br />
B OUTDOOR WEAR<br />
Coats Plain navy, black or dark green outdoor coat free of motif or decoration OR plain navy<br />
blue or black waterproof nylon jacket.<br />

Scarf Regulation school scarf<br />
[To be worn to and from school only and not during the school day].<br />
Gloves Black or grey.<br />
C GIRLS IN SIXTH <strong>FOR</strong>M<br />
Pullover Plain, fine and neat-fitting machine-knitted, mid-grey V-neck wool pullover or cardigan<br />
with a school badge, but no school colours at the neck band.<br />
Shoes Slip-on shoes, which otherwise conform, are regarded as acceptable alternatives.<br />
Tie Special sixth form tie available from the Accounts Office.<br />
D POINTS ABOUT THE WEARING OF <strong>UNI<strong>FOR</strong>M</strong><br />
Hair Hair should be neat and of a style suitable for wearing with a smart, tailored uniform.<br />
In the interests of appearance, hygiene and safety, shoulder-length hair or longer<br />
should be tied back in appropriate classes. Fringes should not cover the eyebrows.<br />
Fastenings, if used, should be small and inconspicuous ie black or green. Extreme<br />
hairstyles or colours should not be worn.<br />
Blouse Should be worn tucked into skirt.<br />
Make-up Make-up should not be worn with school uniform at any time.<br />
Jewellery No jewellery is to be worn except a plain signet ring, ONE badge (non-sectarian, nonpolitical)<br />
and one pair of plain stud earrings [not hoop] worn in the traditional way.<br />
There should be no additional piercings or visible tattoos.<br />
Labels All items must be clearly labelled with the owner's name.<br />
Outdoor<br />
Wear<br />
Blazer or outdoor coat as listed above should be worn on journeys to and from school.<br />
Hooded tops are part of sportswear and as such should be worn for PE and Games<br />
only. NB Blazers should be worn during the school day.<br />
E MOTOR CYCLES AND SCOOTERS [Sixth Form only]<br />
Pupils coming to school on motor cycles or scooters should wear appropriate clothing, including safety<br />
helmets.<br />
F SPORTS WEAR - where indicated sports clothing must be purchased from the PE Department<br />
PE White polo-shirt with crest, black shorts with crest, socks in school colours (purchase<br />
from PE Department)<br />
Swimming Plain black bathing costume, swimming cap<br />
Hockey White hockey shirt, black skort, green hockey socks (purchase from PE Department)<br />
Other Items <strong>School</strong> tracksuit (purchase from the PE Department)<br />
Track shoes for outdoors<br />
Track shoes for indoors with non marking soles<br />
Hockey Stick (purchase from PE Department)<br />
Sports bag<br />
PLEASE NOTE OTHER TYPES OF SPORTS KIT SHOULD NOT BE WORN<br />
PUPILS ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY <strong>FOR</strong> THEIR OWN BELONGINGS. THERE<strong>FOR</strong>E<br />
ALL ITEMS MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH THE OWNER'S NAME.<br />
