supervisors who make staffing assignments for each shift and help to make sure your<br />
treatment plans are being followed. They can be reached at (253) 756-2384. These are the<br />
folks who really do all the hard work around here. They are the ones to go to first with any<br />
questions or concerns. Most of the time they will be able to address any issue that you<br />
have and they know how things run at <strong>Orcas</strong> better than anyone.<br />
Psychiatric Child Care Counselors - These staff will help you with any day-to-day<br />
questions. They will work with you to follow program guidelines and assist you in meeting<br />
your treatment goals. They can be reached at (253)756-2384 (See the attached list of staff<br />
names). These are the folks who make the all the difference in helping you get better.<br />
They carry out all the treatment plans that the doctors come up with and they are with you a<br />
lot more than anyone else. They are a wonderful group of kind and dedicated folks who<br />
want nothing more than to help you achieve your dreams. They can be tough, but they are<br />
fair.<br />
Primary Counselor/Mentor - You will be assigned a Psychiatric Child Care Counselor who<br />
serves as your Mentor. This is the PCCC who works most closely with you, your family, the<br />
treatment team, and other community support individuals who represent your interests. It<br />
you are not sure who your mentor is, you can ask Ed, the cottage supervisor.<br />
Nurses – There is a registered nurse (RN) scheduled to work each shift: Lowell Cowan<br />
RN (Dayshift), Jen Sharp RN (Sundays and Mondays), Emma Caintic Carol Watkin<br />
LPN, Karen Olin RN (swing shift), Deborah Babbitt LPN (Swing shift), Nancy Schroff<br />
RN, (Nightshift). Some of the counselors are also licensed practical nurses (LPNs).<br />
Nurses give out medications, make appointments and take youths to medical<br />
appointments, give immunizations, provide basic first aid or medical assessments, and can<br />
answer any questions you might have about your health or medications. They can be<br />
reached at (253)756-2384 or (253)756-2023. They are all specially trained and<br />
experienced so they can help you with emotional as well as medical issues. Nurses are the<br />
people who really make hospitals tick and CSTC is no exception.<br />
Recreation Therapists – Hayley Elrod, CTRS is a member of the treatment team who<br />
works with you to develop a wide range of healthy and enjoyable activities to meet your<br />
individual goals. She along with the four other Recreation Therapists on campus lead<br />
recreation therapy groups, activities, and outings. Our recreation staff can be reached at<br />
(253)756-2550. Hayley is committed to planning recreation that allows for you to grow and<br />
develop emotionally, mentally, and physically. She is an avid outdoors person and she has<br />
wonderful activities you can take part in to improve your quality of life, but you have to be<br />
active and participate to make it happen.<br />
Chemical Dependency Counselor – a member of the treatment team who will help you<br />
understand the role that alcohol and drugs may have played in your life. She leads groups<br />
and sees some youths individually. She works with you to understand the consequences of<br />
your choices and to develop tools to avoid drugs or addictions when you leave CSTC. You<br />
may not realize or want to realize it, but statistics prove that drugs and alcohol are one of
