Genus ARDEIPHILUS

Type species: Colpocephalum trochioxum (Burmeister,
1838).
Species of this genus are rarely collected. At present it
contains four species found on hosts of the family A rdeidae, order
Ciconiiformes. Future collections may reveal its presence in
North America on more than one host. For a limited discussion
of the genus see Tuff, 1965 (Texas J. Sci., 17:110).
