Every year, thousands make their way to Hollywood, hoping to be
discovered and emerge as the next big thing. A handful manage
a modest living from this choice of profession, and fewer still
become the sort of household name whose very mention gets gossip-hungry
bloggers and lustful fans all a-Twitter. Megan Fox belongs in the latter camp,
making her either very talented, very fortunate, or perhaps a little of both.

Megan may be everyone’s favourite poster girl, but her
sights are set on proving that she’s also a talented actress
Born in 1986 in the tiny town of
Rockwood, Tennessee, Fox began studying
drama and dance at the age of 5, eventually
moving to Florida when she was 10 years
old and stepping into the modeling world
by the time she hit her teens.
At 15 Fox landed her fi rst fi lm role
appearing opposite Mary-Kate and Ashley
Olsen in their direct-to-video teen fl ick,
Holiday in the Sun, but it was hardly what
you’d call an auspicious launch to her
career. From inconspicuous cameos, oneshot
TV appearances, and a two-year stint
on the TV show Hope & Faith, the young
actress was not able to make an impact on
casting directors.
That is, with the exception of one:
Michael Bay. The director had taken notice
of Fox back in 2003, when she appeared as
the bikini-clad kid dancing under a waterfall
in his summer blockbuster, Bad Boys II. In
2006, he cast her to play Mikaela Banes
in Transformers, and the image of her lithe
body bent over the hood of a ’76 Camaro
became the 21st-century version of Farrah
Fawcett’s infamous bikini poster, turning Fox
into one of the world’s biggest sex symbols
virtually overnight.
