Jane Melby and her mount RC Back In Black slipped south and placed at
several prorodeos in Texas and then headed back north to hit Billings and the
MN Lakes Barrel Race and the pair just kept winning. Through the fall the pair
are trying to charge to the top of the 2011 standing in order to qualify for the
lucrative winter rodeos. RC Back In Black is sired by Ninety Nine Goldmine,
a son of Strawfl y Special out of a Merridoc mare. The Strawfl y Special mares
have been having quite year in barrels and racing, but Ninety Nine Goldmine
is one of the few Strawfl y Special sons left as a tie to this blood through sire
lines. Strawfl y Special combines the Special Effort blood that beats through the
likes of Bully Bullion and a Pie In The Sky mare. On the bottom side, RC Back
In Black is out of a Royal Quick Dash mare (the WPRA Futurity winner Zaks
Okie Ree was also out of a Royal Quick Dash mare). The mare also carries the
blood of Bunny Bid and Truckle Feature (sire of Frosty Feature).
