Moody and Dolly won the 3 Rounds of the Cardholder race and the Average and then won the Friday, Saturday and Sunday Open 4D as well for a clean sweep. For the weekend, Moody and Dolly hauled in a whopping total of nearly $10,500! After winning the average at the 2008 WNFR, a freak illness kept Dolly from fi ring on all cylinders in later 2009, but she has come back full strength in 2010 as Moody and Dolly currently sit #5 in the world with over $86k in earnings. A quick pedigree note on Dolly, her sire is inbred to one of Walter Merrick’s (of Easy Jet fame) fi rst great racehorses, Grey Badger II, on the top side. Also, two of the greatest performance sires, Peppy San Badger and Two Eyed Jack both trace to Grey Badger II on the sire side of their dam side. On the bottom side, her dam is inbred to Dash For Cash, one of the greatest racehorses and all around sires adding more speed and performance both. Dolly is healthy, happy, and fi ring and the if the pair’s runs at the WPRA Finals are any indication it could be another awesome WNFR for them in December at Las Vegas. BRR: What will you do between now and the NFR? MOODY: Dolly (TR Dashing Badger) and I will have a weekend off then Kansas City, then Brookings, and then Dallas, to the Texas Stampede. When the weather is decent she will get turned out in pasture to roam around to exercise herself but if the weather gets bad she gets ponied and I have to exercise her. BRR: How do you prepare yourself for NFR? MOODY: I have to take every run as another run because if you get yourself worked up about it (being at the NFR) you will start having problems. When you go down the alley at the NFR, the crowd and noise just drown into the back ground and then it is just you, your horse and 3 barrels. I basically think about it as 10 really good rodeos in a row that you don’t have to drive around for! It does take a lot of preparation though, getting everything packed, and all the the details that it takes to get myself and my family out there.
