Please Note : On Saturday, August 13, the 5:00 PM Mass
will be celebrated on the St. Gregory School Lawn. The
parish picnic will begin after Mass. All are invited to join
us there. Also note, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will
not be available that day.
The Collection for the Church in Latin America will be
taken up in our diocese this weekend August 6-7. This collection
will help our diocesan relationship with Yucatan,
and go beyond it to address the needs of the Church
throughout Latin America. In addition to supporting ongoing
pastoral work, this collection addresses the challenges
of rebuilding the Church when natural disasters occur. We
are grateful for your past participation, and ask that once
again, you be as generous as possible.
The Rosary will be prayed on Monday, August
9, at Noon in the community room in
the rectory.
Congratulations to David Grant and Wayne
McCartney. Last Friday they received the First
Degree in the Knights of Columbus, Chapter
4262. Also the Knights welcome back Joe
Lander to the chapter. Joe spent the last year as Grand
Knight of the Blessed Sacrament chapter.

A Family Perspective
The demands of family can be so overwhelming we
feel walking on water would be easier. When Jesus
was pressured, He dismissed everyone, so he could be
―by himself and pray.‖ When overwhelmed and
stressed, go to a quiet place and surrender your pressured
feelings to the Lord using Peter’s prayer in today’s
gospel: ―Lord, save me.‖

Register now for the 2011-2012 School Year– Registrations
are now being accepted for all grades. Packets are
available in the school office.
The SGPS Faith & Knowledge Meet (10K, 5K and 1
Mile Fun Run) will be held Saturday, August 13th. It
will begin at the school. You can register at http://

It’s time to kick off the 2011 Football
Lottery! This is a vital fundraiser for
the school and parish support is greatly
appreciated. Tickets are $5.00 and are good for the entire
NFL season. So join in the fun and stop in the rectory or
school office during business hours and get your tickets
today.
Car Wash to benefit the SGS Cross Country Team will be
held at the school on Saturday, August 20th from 10:00
AM-1:00 PM.
Cross Country is a fall sport open to the students of St.
Gregory School as well as youth that are members of the
parish. St. Gregory team members compete according to
grade level. Participation is open to any child in 1st-8th
grade. First team practice is Tuesday, August 30th at
3:30 PM at the school. For more information contact

St. Gregory Parish School Chicken BBQ on Sunday,
September 11th, from Noon-3:00 PM. Tickets are available
in the rectory and school office. Cost is $8.00 for
adults; $4.50 for children under 12.
St. Gregory School is seeking volunteers to assist with
the hot lunch program offered to students every Friday
during the school year. Please contact the school office at
725-4571 if you can help.
Chinese Auction Items Needed for St. Gregory’s Annual
Parish Picnic. Please drop items off at the school office
Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM or
at Char Eidell’s house, 91 Gibson St. Any questions,
please call Char at 725-1308 or Becky Pollack at 725-2392.
Proceeds from the auction go towards offsetting our picnic
cost. Thank you for your support.
Parish Picnic Update: New this year: Youth division for
the Corn Toss Tournament at the parish picnic. The winning
team will receive official winners’ plaques and bragging
rights, and everyone who participates will have a good
time. Sign up in the back of the church. We could use a
few more corn toss games, so if you are willing to lend us
yours for the picnic, call Jim Kurre at 725-6888.

FAITH FORMATION NEWS
Register for Next Year
We are currently taking registrations for this coming
school year for Religious Education. Registration
forms are available in the back of the church or in the
rectory office. Forms are due back as soon as possible.
We offer religious education programs for students in
Kindergarten through grade 10 and Confirmation preparations
for students in grade 11. Contact the Faith Formation
Office at 725-9691.
Opportunities to help with next years Faith Formation
program are available. We have openings for office
help, aides, substitutes, and catechists. If you or
someone you know is interested in more information
about volunteering, please contact Loraine at the Faith
Formation Office at 725-9691.
