New Veterans Post

Springfield Chapter of the Veterana
of Foreign Wars rf the
United States met In inaugural
session, Friday, March 7. The
first unit of this national organization
to be formed In tha township
plans an intensive membership
drive In the coming months
One of the oldest groups of its
kind, entry is open to service raea
having served outefde the continental
limits of the United States.
Sixty-five veterans attended the
initial meeting-; highlighted by addresses
from the state and county
commander of the V.F.W. Several
past commanders were also
present. Temporary officers were
elecred and formative policy and
plans discussed. Various committes
undertook chapter expansion
in anticipation of granting of the
charter from national headquarters.
New members was the main
