Marvell DragonFly NVRAM
Second-Generation, High-Performance Non-Volatile DRAM
Write Cache
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The Marvell ® DragonFly NVRAM, part of the DragonFly platform family, delivers a high-performance 3.2 gigabytesper-second
(GB/s) Non-Volatile Dynamic Random Access Memory (NVRAM) write cache solution for low latency and
IOPS-intensive applications. DragonFly NVRAM integrates up to 8 gigabyte (GB) DDR3 SODIMM and 32GB NAND
Flash memory to create a large capacity, highly resilient NVRAM technology in a PCIe form factor suitable for data
center servers and storage appliances. Marvell DragonFly NVRAM leverages zero-maintenance ultracapacitors
to automatically back up DRAM to SLC NAND Flash in the event of power loss. This ultracapacitor-based design
has several benefits including zero maintenance, data loss protection and the ability to directly monitor capacitor
performance and adjust voltage to maximize capacitor life span.
The DragonFly NVRAM can be deployed in various applications that need faster access and protection from power
loss to log files, temp tables, indexes, metadata in OLTP, Big Data and other cloud computing applications.
Powered by Marvell’s industry-leading power-efficient ASICs, system-on-chip (SoCs) and SSD controllers, the
DragonFly NVRAM offers a turnkey solution including hardware, firmware, SDK, host software drivers and a
management GUI, to deliver a complete time-to-market solutions.
