mm SHOW
The 18th annual Northeast
Shrine Circus was produced by Eddie
Zacchini and presented at
the Monroe (La.) Civic Center. A
total of 9,000 persons attended
the three shows, which was competing
against a star-studded CP
Telethon, just across the street)
and other local events.
It was a children's circus
for the most part, with the
strongest acts being the non-person
performers. Cristiani's elephants
topped the bill with their
grace and polish.
Van Donwen's seals, Alley's
bears and Bill Brickie's poodles
were stand-out features. Barrada
faced some wild lions and his
closing trick, a lion sitting on
a revolving platform, won hearty
applause.
Fay Alexander's comedy auto
and the Zoppe 3001 Exploits in
Space were crowd pleasers. Missing
was the Zacchini cannon act
which was announced earlier as
a part of the show. There was a
definite shortage of clowns and
due to other bookings this reporter
was unable to join the alley.
M. L. Dupont
Paul V. Kaye - producer/director
Judy Kaye - program director
June Dewsbury - wardrobe
John MacKaye - producing clown
with Mike Klucker, June Dewsbury
and Koko Sprath.
