Koningskop Camp Site & 4x4 Trails are to be found off the N7 on your way
to Citrusdal from Cape Town
The camp site and 4x4 trails are situated on the farm Wilgerbosdrif between the
Olifantsrivier mountains, 27km from Citrusdal and 17km from the N7. The farm
belongs to the Spreeth Family and has been in their family for four generations. The
main farming activities are citrus and rooibos tea.
Come and enjoy a peaceful weekend away from hustle and bustle of the city.
Bring your 4x4 and let it do what it was designed to, on our 4x4 trails. There is one
for the adventuress and one for the "not so brave", both have beautiful scenic views
of the Swartland, Sandveld & Cederberge.
The camp site offers place for tents and caravans, where you can relax on the lawns
and take in the peaceful surroundings. Take a hike and discover the original
bushman’s drawings on the farm, while getting back to nature.
For those who still need the creature comforts of home, you can hire our self catering
cottage.
4X4 Trail
The Petoorskrans trail
Distance: 14km (return route)
Time to drive: about 2.5 - 3 hours
This is a challenging trail, but the views of the Swartland, Cederberge and Sandveld
make it all worth while. The grading of this trail is 3.5 - 4

Camp SiteCamp site Layout
All you need is a tent, sleeping bags, some food, first aid kit, batteries, and other
essentials to enjoy your outdoor adventures. Camping sites would not be a problem
and would not give you any trouble since here; we offer you so many sites. You can,
in fact, choose from almost forty sites. Each gives a relaxing and tranquil
atmosphere, which would let you enjoy what nature has to offer. And when it comes
to basic facilities, again, there should be no problem because everything that you
would possibly need during your stay will surely be provided.
There are 37 sites, all on grass and mostly in the shadow of old oak trees. Some of
the sites have a degree of privacy (you need to book early) while others are laid out
for larger groups wanting to enjoy each others company.
A calm and peaceful atmosphere is created by the small stream which flows through
the campsite, also the lack of cell phone reception helps!
The sites are suitable for caravans, tents and 4x4 trailers, each equipped with an
electric point.

For the hot summer days, you can enjoy a dip in the swimming pool filled with cold
mountain spring water or a swim in the dam.
The clean ablution block has flushing toilets and hot showers, all the comforts of
home :)
The Hiking Trail, which is marked out by arrows, is a circle route (about 1½ hours)
from the campsite.
On the trail, nature and hiking lovers will be impressed with the rock formations and
beautiful views of the valley. There is a special treat along the way, as original
Bushman drawings can be seen.

Take the N7 National Road north
Go past the following towns (or stop and visit if you wish)
• Malmesbury
• Morreesburg
• Piketberg
At the top of the Piekenierskloof Pass turn left - if you get to Citrusdal you have gone
to far, turn around! - Sign says "Paleisheuwel"

Follow the tarred road, which becomes a gravel road straight for about 18km.
Once you turn off, please continue for a further 200m on the gravel road, till you get to the
entrance to the Lapa, reception is based at the Lapa.
