Gedurende 1976 en 1977 doen hy sy<br />

verpligte militere diensplig in die <strong>SA</strong><br />

Vloot en daarna voltooi hy die <strong>of</strong>fisierskursus<br />

in Gordonsbaai. In 1982 behaal<br />

hy die graad LLB en word toegelaat as<br />

prokureur. Hy praktiseer as prokureur<br />

in Witrivier en later in Pretoria vanaf<br />

1982-87. Hy sluit in 1987 aan by die<br />

Pretoria Balie. In 1993 behaal hy 'n<br />

LLM-graad in Intellektuele Goederereg<br />

by U nisa. From 1993-97 he was a<br />

senior lecturer in Public Law at Vista<br />

University, Mamelodi, and in January,<br />

March and April 1995 he attended <strong>the</strong><br />

Advanced International Programme<br />

on Human Rights in South Africa and<br />

Sweden as delegate <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> GCB (see<br />

1995 November Consultus 146). During<br />

August and September 1999 he attended<br />

a Resource Person in Training Course in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Administration <strong>of</strong> Justice presented<br />

by <strong>the</strong> Raoul Wallenburg Institute <strong>of</strong><br />

Sweden in Nairobi, Kenya. In 2003 he<br />

visited various international legal institutions<br />

(see 2004 April Advocate 30).<br />

Andre has served four terms on <strong>the</strong><br />

Pretoria <strong>Bar</strong> <strong>Council</strong>.<br />

AMM Motimele<br />

McCaps was born in Polokwane<br />

(Pietersburg) and obtained <strong>the</strong> senior certificate<br />

at <strong>the</strong> Setotolwane High School<br />

in 1975. He obtained <strong>the</strong> degrees BProc<br />

(1980) and LLB (1982) at <strong>the</strong> University<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> North and an LLM (1987) at<br />

Georgetown University. During 1987 he<br />

completed a Diploma in Trial Advocacy<br />

at Harvard University. McCaps was a<br />

public prosecutor during 1980. He was<br />

admitted as an attorney in 1985, and<br />

joined <strong>the</strong> Johannesburg <strong>Bar</strong> in 1988.<br />

During his student years he filled a<br />

number <strong>of</strong> leadership roles, including<br />

senior law student advisor and president<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sovenga Soccer League. He has<br />

served on a large number <strong>of</strong> boards and<br />

held or holds many public appointments,<br />

including being a member <strong>of</strong> President<br />

Mbeki's Consultative <strong>Council</strong>, chairperson<br />

<strong>of</strong>, inter alia, <strong>the</strong> Audit Committee<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National Department <strong>of</strong> Health,<br />

and <strong>the</strong> Disciplinary Committee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

National Housing Building Regulatory<br />

<strong>Council</strong>. He is a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> South<br />

African National Defence Liaison<br />

<strong>Council</strong>, which is a presidential appointment.<br />

McCaps has authored several<br />

publications, including A Constitution<br />

for a Democratic South Africa (with I<br />

Semenya), and has delivered lectures<br />

on constitutional and related matters to<br />

student and pr<strong>of</strong>essional audiences.<br />

DPJ Rossouw se<br />

Dawie is in die distrik Volksrust gebore<br />

en matrikuleer in 1957 aan die Volksrust<br />

Hoerskool. Hy behaal die grade BA<br />

(Regte) en LLB aan die Universiteit<br />

van Natal en werk tydens sy studiejare<br />

by die Staatsprokureur in Durban, die<br />

regsafdeling van Trust Bank en as leerklerk<br />

by Woodhead, Bigby & Smi<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

in Durban. In 1964 word hy aangestel<br />

in die Prokureur-Generaal se kantoor<br />

in Pretoria en op sy versoek word hy<br />

met ingang 1 Julie 1965 oorgeplaas<br />

na Windhoek waar hy ook vir 'n tyd<br />

waarneem as Prokureur-Generaal. In<br />

1966 keer hy terug na Volksrust en<br />

word in 1968 toegelaat as prokureur.<br />

Hy praktiseer in Volksrust tot aan die<br />

einde van 1979, die laaste agt jaar as<br />

senior vennoot van Rossouw, Coetzee &<br />

Kie. In 1980 sluit hy aan by die Pretoria<br />

Balie waar hy tot Junie 1994 as voltydse<br />

lid praktiseer. Hy is 'n stigterslid en<br />

tans voorsitter van die Vereniging van<br />

Advokate vir Mpumalanga wat in Julie<br />

1994 gestig is en is sedertdien 'n assosiaatlid<br />

van die Pretoria Balie. Dawie<br />

is lid van die Streeks- en Distrikshowe<br />

Judisiele Komitee vir Mpumalanga en<br />

was ook vanaf Februarie 1996 voorsitter<br />

van die Waardasie Appelraad vir<br />

Mpumalanga. Sy belangstellings buite<br />

die reg sluit in lees, veral geskiedenis en<br />

biografiee, en hy hou van voetslaan in<br />

die natuur. Hy is met Annetjie getroud<br />

en albei hulle kinders is reeds getroud.<br />

RG Tolmay se<br />

Ronel matrikuleer aan die Schweizer­<br />

Reneke Hoerskool en verwerf die<br />

grade BIuris (1983) en LLB (1985)<br />

aan die Potchefstroomse Universiteit vir<br />

Christelike Hoer Onderwys. Gedurende<br />

haar studentejare was sy 'n assistent in<br />

die Departemente Staatsreg en Romeinse<br />

Reg van die universiteit. Sy sluit direk<br />

na haar studies in 1986 aan by die<br />

Pretoria Balie. Ronel het 'n wye siviele<br />

praktyk en het heelwat blootstelling<br />

gekry aan kommersiele werk, familie-,<br />

administratief- en arbeidsreg. In haar<br />

vrye tyd is sy 'n kompulsiewe leser<br />

en sy is superfiks danksy 'n strawwe<br />

oefenprogram. Sy is 'n gewaardeerde<br />

kollega en nederige mens. (Die inligting<br />

hjerbo is met moeite uit haar gewurg.)<br />

JO'D Williams se<br />

Don was born In Potchefstroom<br />

and matriculated at Grey College,<br />

Bloemfontein. He obtained his BA LLB<br />

at U nisa whlle doing articles and working<br />

as a judge's clerk. He was a firearms<br />

instructor in <strong>the</strong> <strong>SA</strong>PD during his national<br />

service, judge's clerk to Curlewis J (a<br />

degree in itself!) and did his articles <strong>of</strong><br />

clerkship at Rooth & Wessels, Pretoria.<br />

After he qualified as an attorney, he<br />

practised for two years in Potchefstroom<br />

and joined <strong>the</strong> Pretoria <strong>Bar</strong> in 1989. He<br />

has a wide practice and has appeared in<br />

a number <strong>of</strong> test cases during his career.<br />

Don participates in golf, skiing, deep<br />

sea fishing (skipper's ticket) and scuba.<br />

He is married to Jeanette and <strong>the</strong>y have<br />

four children.<br />
