Are you competing with your horse
and want to share your success with
the FHANA membership? Starting with
the July/August issue of the Friesian
magazine, FHANA will start to feature
a "Competitor in the Spotlight" in
every issue. The "Competitor in the
Spotlight" will be a new section
designed to feature a FHANA member
who is excelling with their Friesian horse in various
competitions. FHANA would like to encourage all riders and drivers
from training level to Grand Prix to submit your article for
consideration to the Friesian Magazine editor Laurie Kasperek at
farside@stny.rr.com.
2012 Breeding Season is here
FHANA has switched to an online stallion reporting procedures. This is
the same system that the Stallion owners utilize in the Netherlands.
The North American Stallion owners are requesting your help. When
you are purchasing a breeding from them you will be required to give
the following information:
Full Name
Microchip Number
Registration Number
If the stallion owners do not receive all parts of this information, it
could delay you in receiving your breeding certificate the following
year. Please help the stallion owners by supplying them with the
appropriate information.
Congratulations Award Winners
FHANA would like to congratulate all of our 2011 FHANA end of the
Obtaining your Sports Predicate
In 2011, FHANA had 25 horses obtain their Sports Predicate. If you
and your horse are competing in either Dressage or Driving, now is
the time for you to submit for your Sports Predicate.
Sports Predicate: predicate can be awarded to mares, gelding, and
stallions that achieve good results in competitive sport. The Sport
predicate can only be obtained based on results achieved at shows
registered with the " United States Equestrian Federation, United
States Dressage Federation, American Driving Society" or "Koninklijke
Nederlands Hippische Sportfederatie"/Royal Dutch Equestrian
Federation (KNHS). The scores registered with USEF, USDF, ADS, or
KNHS determine qualification for the Sport predicate.
Criteria: The minimum criteria for awarding the Sport criteria are:
The ridden Sports Predicate: The ridden Sports Predicate requires 5
tests of either Z1, Third Level or a combination of the two. The
reason that we require 5 tests lies with the availability of Dressage

.
shows throughout North America. The Sports committee felt there
was no problem obtaining 5 tests. The availability of these dressage
tests are so numerous that one, at certain events, is able to do all 5
tests in one weekend.
a. Dressage Z1+5 Dressage (USDF) 5 scores of 60% or higher at third
level or higher; or Z1 Level test 24 or test 26 with 5 scores of 60% or
higher.
Z1 Test 26 Score Sheet
A point system for Drivers:
The Driving Sports Predicate requires having to obtain 10 qualifying
scores from 10 separate tests. The availability of events that can
handle the required FEI #9 test are very far and few between,
literally. It was obvious that we needed to do something to help with
making the Driving Sports Predicate a possibility. To accomplish
this, the Sports Committee decided to adapt a point system, so the
better score received, the less tests that would need to be done to
reach the 10 qualifying points.
b. Driving (Dressage) Z + 10 Obtain Ten points from FEI test #9 from
at least 3 different FEI or 'R' rated judges. The point system is as
follows: 60%-65% = 1 Point, 66%-70% = 2 Points, 71% or higher = 3
Points. You must submit your score sheets to the FHANA upon
completion of each event. FHANA will keep track of your
points. Once your horse has obtained the appropriate points (10
Points) you will be contacted that your horse has achieved the Sports
Predicate.
FHANA and the KFPS have worked together to have the same
requirements that are available to the members in the
Netherlands. If you have any questions please contact the
FHANA office.
Driving Sports Predicate Application
FEI Test #9
FEI Test 9 Description
The Sports Predicate requirements in the Netherlands vs. here:
In the Netherlands the requirements are Z1 +5 points for Ridden; and
Z1 +10 points for Driving. This is where the 5 and 10 test
requirements come from for us. In the Netherlands it's harder to gain
the points as one has to work up thru all the levels to the Z1 level.
Unlike, here where one can just enter and perform the FEI #9 test
without having done any dressage tests in the past; in the
Netherlands that would not be allowed. In the Netherlands they have
to start at basically our equivalent of training level and then have to

pass each level before they are allowed to move up to the next
level.
The Sports Committee wanted to make the two very different
systems between the Netherlands and North America as equal as they
possible can be. We feel that is what we have done by adding the Z1
tests for the ridden sports predicate and the point system for the
driving sports predicate.
The 2012 Show Season is upon us, so remember to keep track of your
shows and scores and submit them for one of our year end
Performance Awards. We wish all of our competitors a great show
season!
