Rehabilitation of Marjanishvili Street Finalized
Reconstruction of David Agmashenebeli Avenue
was followed by implementation of rehabilitation works in
Kote Marjanishvili Street, one of the most beautiful
streets of Tbilisi.
Six houses were fully reconstructed under the project:
roofs were replaced, substructures were reinforced,
facades were refurbished. Reconstruction project was
designed by architectural company Architects.Ge. Four
new houses were built in Marjanishvili Street according
to the projects approved by scientific methodological board
at Tbilisi City Hall. Rehabilitation project provided for full
replacement of underground communications and drainage
systems, installation of modern combined outdoor lighting
and backlight structures. Marjanishvili Street underground
passage was also reconstructed; comfortable, 120place
underground parking lot was built; pedestrian part
of the street was fully redesigned. Refreshed Marjanishvili
Street became more attractive both for the local population
and for tourists.
Next stage of Old Tbilisi Rehabilitation Project,
implementation of which has already started, includes reconstruction
of the following areas: Marjanishvili Square neigh-
borhood in the direction of Dimitri Uznadze Street; section
of David Agmashenebeli Avenue from Tsabadze Street
till crossing with King Tamar Avenue; section of Giorgi
Tsabadze Street from Mtkvari Embankment till crossing
with Akaki Tsereteli Avenue; Saarbrucken Square; Shavteli
and Chakhrukhadze Streets. The plan implies replacement
of underground communications and drainage systems
and reconstruction of 70 buildings (including reinforcement
of underground and overground parts of the
buildings, re-roofing, facade restoration, etc.). These
activities will be finished in autumn 2012.
