Jak de Priester is an English singer, writer and artist. Jak’s career began in 2003 after he won the
ATKV Crescendo Competition, it gave him the opportunity to record his first album titled Sally
Williams Nougat. 11 Years - 7 albums, 1 volume of poetry, a coffee table-word art book and several
stage production later Jak's career continues to grow.
Jak is also the writer and singer of the theme song of the famous drama series 'Egoli' broadcast on
MNET and KYKNET. He has also been called the Brooklyn Poet 'because his lyrics containing such
famous landmarks as the Groenkloof Spar and Brooklyn Mall. Jak is also known for his lyrics to his
music because they’re about events that most people can identify with.
Jak has many plans for the future, CD, DVD, books and many more productions and performances!
He is a very diverse artist (and actor!) From village to village tour with his band or pianist. Jak's

• Jak wrote the theme song for the Tyger Beer Organisie for traumatized children, and introduces
the song with a big event in August 2008, including the Minister of Health. In 2009 James was also
appointed as ambassador for this organization.
• Jak de Priester also writes and sings the theme song for the popular African MNet drama, "All
Access" and the new program on KYKNET titled "10 out of 10"
• Jak de Priester was also part of Rapport's Music Maestro's tour in 2009, 26 performances are
offered across the country.
• One of Jak's poems' Unknown was also included in the new ' The Big Book Of Verse’ released in
2009.
• Jak’s tour with Bodom in 2011 in a production titled Brooklyn Baby Last
• He wa also part of Laerskool Hennopspark Centurion's 30 year celebrations at the State Theatre,
script writer and artist.
• In September 2011 Jak de Priester, composer of African music, was honored by the ATKV branch
Pretoria. Previous recipients of this award including Lucas Maree, Coenie de Villiers, Lize Beekman,
Chris Torr (Laurika's husband), Christa Steyn etc..
• 4 Jak's songs are also included in the new FAK Vocal Bundle - 75th Anniversary
• Two great minds with whom Jak worked in 2012 were Laurika Rauch and Jannie Moolman.
