Jacob Abolafia<br />
Jacob Abolafia is a n<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ive of Albany New York. As an undergradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e philosophy<br />
major <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Yale, he was a founding member of the Vladimir "Ze'ev" Jabotinsky Lunch<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>Fellows</str<strong>on</strong>g>hip as well as Chairman of the Yale Record. He is currently pursuing postgradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e<br />
studies <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Clare College, Cambridge <strong>on</strong> a Paul Mell<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Fellows</str<strong>on</strong>g>hip, in the areas<br />
of Political Thought and Intellectual History.<br />
David Blitzer<br />
David has lived the majority of his life in Haworth, New Jersey, a small suburb of New<br />
York City. He was a member of the varsity basketball and track teams <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Northern<br />
Valley Regi<strong>on</strong>al High School of Demarest, and c<strong>on</strong>tinued his track and field career<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. While <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> William and<br />
Mary, David majored in Kinesiology and Health Sciences and minored in Chemistry.<br />
David will be gradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing from William and Mary <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the end of this semester, and after<br />
the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Tikvah</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Fellows</str<strong>on</strong>g> Program, he plans to c<strong>on</strong>tinue his educ<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the University of<br />
Pennsylvania School of Medicine.<br />
Morris Breitbart<br />
Morris is a junior <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Princet<strong>on</strong> University, majoring in Politics and pursuing a<br />
certific<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e in Near Eastern Studies. He is a fellow with the Program <strong>on</strong> Religi<strong>on</strong>,<br />
Diplomacy and Intern<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>al Rel<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>s, researching the role of religi<strong>on</strong> in the Arab-<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>i peace process. Morris has served <strong>on</strong> the boards of a number of campus<br />
organiz<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>s, including Tigers for <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g> and the Center for Jewish Life. He has<br />
written for Princet<strong>on</strong>’s American Foreign Policy Magazine and the Sigma Iota Rho<br />
Journal of Intern<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>al Rel<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>s. Before coming to Princet<strong>on</strong>, Morris spent a gap<br />
year studying in Yeshiv<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Eretz H<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>zvi, a Jewish seminary in Jerusalem, where he<br />
delved into a variety of Jewish texts rel<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ed to law, philosophy and ethics. This helped<br />
him develop a gre<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>er appreci<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong> for Judaism and witness firsthand its impact <strong>on</strong><br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>i society.
Yitzhak Br<strong>on</strong>stein<br />
Yitzhak, a n<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ive New Yorker, is a junior studying Philosophy and Political Science <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Yeshiva University. After gradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing from Yeshiva University High School, he spent<br />
two form<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ive years studying <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Yeshiv<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Har Etzi<strong>on</strong> in Gush Etzi<strong>on</strong>, <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>, where he<br />
developed a deep passi<strong>on</strong> for Judaism and the St<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>. At YU, Yitzhak is a staff<br />
writer for Kol Hamevasar, the university’s undergradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e journal of Jewish thought,<br />
where he has argued th<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the university should adopt a broader visi<strong>on</strong> and strengthen<br />
its rel<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>ship with <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>. This past year, Yitzhak served as President of the Yeshiva<br />
College Social Justice Society, where he organized events intended to broaden the<br />
horiz<strong>on</strong>s of the student body vis-à-vis the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>i-Palestinian c<strong>on</strong>flict. An avid follower<br />
of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>i politics, Yitzhak has written numerous articles and opini<strong>on</strong>-pieces rel<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ed to<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>, and particip<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ed in a student leadership trip to <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g> with CAMERA (Committee<br />
for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America).<br />
Amanda Clark<br />
Amanda grew up in the rural Tennessee town of Portland. In May 2011 she gradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ed<br />
from Yale University with a B.A. in L<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>in American Studies. She will begin medical<br />
school in August 2011 <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Albert <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ein</str<strong>on</strong>g>stein College of Medicine in New York. Amanda<br />
worked with a variety of organiz<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>s throughout college, including the American<br />
Red Cross <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Yale and the Haven Free Clinic, and spent her summers traveling through<br />
various L<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>in American countries. Her favorite trip took place during the summer of<br />
2009 when she traveled through Mexico, Gu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>emala and H<strong>on</strong>duras, studying Mayan<br />
ruins. Outside of school, Amanda loves cross-stitching, napping, w<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ching Modern<br />
Family, and taking advantage of the $5.99 medium pizzas from Dominoes.<br />
Josh Cooper<br />
Josh was born in Massachusetts, but has spent most of his life in South Orange, New<br />
Jersey. He is the sec<strong>on</strong>d of five brothers. Josh spent a gap year <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Yeshiv<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Hesder<br />
Petach <str<strong>on</strong>g>Tikvah</str<strong>on</strong>g>, where he fell in love with the idea of Religious-Zi<strong>on</strong>ism and the Jewish<br />
St<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e. After m<strong>on</strong>ths of difficult deliber<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>, Josh opted not to enlist in the IDF with his<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>i friends, returning instead to the United St<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>es (<strong>on</strong>ly until gradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>, he says).<br />
He has just finished his freshman year <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the University of Pennsylvania, where he<br />
studies M<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>hem<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ics, Computer Science and Jewish Studies. Josh spends most of his<br />
time <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Hillel, but has been involved with the Ultim<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e Frisbee team, filmmaking and an<br />
interfaith dialogue group. He identifies as Religious Zi<strong>on</strong>ist/Liberal Modern Orthodox,<br />
but prefers to avoid labels. While Josh does not yet know wh<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> he wants to do when<br />
he grows up, he has always looked up to his parents, both of whom get to work in<br />
Jewish educ<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong> every day; his f<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>her is a C<strong>on</strong>serv<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ive rabbi and his mother directs<br />
a Jewish summer camp.<br />

Uriel Epshtein<br />
Uriel is a sophomore <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Yale University. During his freshman year <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Yale, Uriel started an<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g> advocacy group to increase the pro-<str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g> presence <strong>on</strong> campus. Through this group,<br />
he organized two large events: <strong>on</strong>e with the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>i C<strong>on</strong>sul, Gil Lainer, and the sec<strong>on</strong>d with<br />
former Iranian Revoluti<strong>on</strong>ary Guardsman-turned-CIA-Double-Agent, Reza Kahlili. During<br />
his upcoming sophomore year, Uriel will be president of the Yale Friends of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>. In<br />
additi<strong>on</strong>, Uriel has served as a research assistant to Professor Charles Small of the Yale<br />
Initi<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ive for the Interdisciplinary Study of Anti-Semitism, and has competed with the<br />
Yale traveling Model UN Team. He is the Under-Secretary General for Committees for<br />
his College C<strong>on</strong>ference, the Security Council Simul<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Yale (SCSY). Uriel’s interests<br />
include intern<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>al affairs, political science, philosophy, pre-law, Russian, and French.<br />
Carrie Filipetti<br />
Originally from New York, Carrie has spent the past four years in the South pursuing<br />
her Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies as an Echol’s and Jeffers<strong>on</strong> Scholar <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the<br />
University of Virginia. Though her primary interests include anti-Semitism, Zi<strong>on</strong>ism<br />
and Jewish identity politics, her degree work has mainly centered around two periods:<br />
Judaism in antiquity and Holocaust Resp<strong>on</strong>ses. Her work has been published in the<br />
University of Virginia’s undergradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e research journal. Carrie is an active member of<br />
UVA's Hillel, Chabad and Astr<strong>on</strong>omy Society, and just completed two terms as Chair for<br />
the Student Council's Diversity Initi<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ives Committee, comb<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing issues of racism, anti-<br />
Semitism and classism. Carrie has served as President of her university’s <strong>on</strong>ly pro-<str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
organiz<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong> as well as an Emers<strong>on</strong> Fellow with StandWithUs. She has also served as an<br />
Editorial Intern for Gadfly Magazine for the past year. Following her fellowship <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ein</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>, Carrie will be c<strong>on</strong>tinuing her work with the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Tikvah</str<strong>on</strong>g> Fund as a Post-B.A. Fellow, where<br />
she hopes to explore questi<strong>on</strong>s of Jewish communal identific<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong> and demographics.<br />
Daniele N<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ali Goldberg<br />
Born in Washingt<strong>on</strong>, D.C. with her twin brother, Daniele moved to <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> age five and<br />
from there to Se<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>tle <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> thirteen. She currently lives in Massachusetts, where she is a<br />
rising senior <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Smith College. Her studies include: Government, with c<strong>on</strong>centr<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>s<br />
in Intern<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>al Rel<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>s and Feminist Studies; Classical Arabic; and Religi<strong>on</strong>, with<br />
c<strong>on</strong>centr<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>s in Philosophy and Jewish Mysticism. Daniele founded the "Smith <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Alliance" <strong>on</strong> her campus and served as its president for two years. Daniele <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>tended a coed<br />
Yeshiva in the Pacific Northwest and is very involved with the Hillel communities in the<br />
five colleges in her area. On campus she works as a computer lab c<strong>on</strong>sultant and student<br />
manager, as well as a Hebrew language tutor. Her interests include live electr<strong>on</strong>ica<br />
c<strong>on</strong>certs; playing music (drums, guitar, piano, synthesizer); dance (Martha Graham<br />
Technique, ballet, salsa, West African); Tai-Chi; women’s empowerment; medi<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>;<br />
Heschel; Pl<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>o; Garcia; running; yoga; healthy e<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing; glass bottles; and travel abroad.
Michal Goldschmidt<br />
Michal grew up in L<strong>on</strong>d<strong>on</strong>. After gradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing from high school, she spent a year<br />
studying Torah in <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Migdal Oz. She is currently completing her first year <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Cambridge University, where she is studying <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g>ology and Religious Studies. Michal is<br />
active in the Jewish Society, volunteers as a leader regularly <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> camps for Bnei Akiva,<br />
trained in singing, and used to be a part of an am<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>eur dram<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ics group.<br />
Grace Goodbl<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>t<br />
Grace was born and raised in Encinitas, California. As a three-year old she spent<br />
a year in Jerusalem with her family for her f<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>her’s sabb<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ical. Interested in<br />
Intern<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>al Rel<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>s, in May 2011 Grace is gradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing from the University of<br />
California <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Berkeley with a degree in Political Ec<strong>on</strong>omy. Throughout her time <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Berkeley she was an active member <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Hillel, serving as co-chair of the <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g> Acti<strong>on</strong><br />
Committee, a Hillel intern, and a member of the Hillel Executive Board, am<strong>on</strong>g<br />
other activities. Grace was an AIPAC Diam<strong>on</strong>d Summer Intern and now works as a<br />
legisl<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ive intern for California St<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e Sen<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>or Mark Leno. Grace hopes to travel for a<br />
couple of years before going to law school.<br />
Elyssa Kanet<br />
Elyssa gradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ed from Brandeis University in 2008 with a B.A. in Philosophy. Since<br />
gradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong> she has worked for AVODAH: <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> Jewish Service Corps and has spent a<br />
year studying <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Midreshet Nishm<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> in Jerusalem. Elyssa is currently a dual Master's<br />
degree candid<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Brandeis University in the fields of C<strong>on</strong>flict and Coexistence<br />
Studies, and Sustainable Intern<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>al Development. She aspires to c<strong>on</strong>tinue her<br />
studies in the fields of Envir<strong>on</strong>mental Anthropology and Spiritual Ecology. Her hobbies<br />
include ice-sk<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing, dancing, yoga, and vegan cooking.<br />

Isaiah Kirshner-Breen<br />
Coming from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Isi is a third-year student <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the University of<br />
California, Berkeley. He is studying Legal Studies and Jewish Studies, and intends to<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>tend law school after completing his B.A. At university Isi serves as the External Vice<br />
President of the Jewish Student Uni<strong>on</strong> and the Assistant External Vice President of the<br />
Interfr<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ernity Council. Isi is a brother of the Jewish fr<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>ernity Alpha Epsil<strong>on</strong> Pi and is<br />
active <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Berkeley Hillel.<br />
Leaw Shavin Kisso<strong>on</strong>dharry<br />
Shavin is in his final year <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> Warwick University in the United Kingdom, where he<br />
is studying Political Science and Sociology. Originally from Mauritius, he studied <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
the Royal College before Warwick and plans to pursue a Doctor<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e in Policy Science.<br />
Shavin worked <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> an Applied Social Policy Center and is <strong>on</strong> the executive committee<br />
of a law and human rights’ pro-b<strong>on</strong>o organiz<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>i<strong>on</strong>, Femin-Ijtihad, whose missi<strong>on</strong> is to<br />
promote academic approaches to Islamic legal texts and jurisprudence th<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> advance<br />
women’s rights. Shavin enjoys writing in the four languages of his childhood: English,<br />
French, Creole and Hindi. He has published a play and other writings. He has a passi<strong>on</strong><br />
for languages, reading and formal deb<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e, and a str<strong>on</strong>g commitment to the social<br />
sciences. His hobbies include practicing the Erhu, going to music seisiún in the local<br />
Irish pub, meeting and talking to new people, hiking <strong>on</strong> the English country lanes,<br />
getting involved in the campus Jewish-<str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>i society and, in all earnestness, going to<br />

He was born and raised in Orange County, California. In college he has explored<br />

Kylie is an Australian studying in Britain <str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g> the University of Cambridge. She is going<br />
into her third year of an undergradu<str<strong>on</strong>g>at</str<strong>on</strong>g>e degree in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.<br />
Kylie has been learning Hebrew for two years and is very interested in <str<strong>on</strong>g>Israel</str<strong>on</strong>g>, having<br />

a requirement of her course, and is looking forward to living <strong>on</strong> a Kibbutz for five<br />
