In this example, migration begins when a client’s application
program issues a request to read the first 8 KB of the mail.txt file
through the VNX. This request triggers the opening and migration of
each component in the path from the root of the file system to the
mail.txt file, as shown in Figure 4 on page 39. The steps are as follows:
1. The /Mail directory is opened and migrated to the VNX.
This migration includes attributes for the /Mail/Options and the
/Mail/Users directories, but not their contents.
A “placeholder” is created for the /Options directory.
