01. 2012 SEASON REVIEW
WELCOME
“It has been a terrific season for the Blancpain Endurance Series in 2012. Large
grids, close racing and multiple winners is a very sound basis for any series but
especially so, for one that has just single class of car – GT3.
“We had 50 cars as season entries this year and 60-car grids at some races. That is a
phenomenal achievement and commitment from the teams. The structure of the
series works. Teams, drivers and manufacturers like racing under this rulebook. They
thrive with the challenge it presents and that is why in 2013 we will have a stable
platform again. This will attract new manufacturers, teams and drivers and ensure yet
more exciting racing for the coming year.
“We will also welcome Pirelli as tyre supplier next season. They were impressed with
the Blancpain Endurance Series and what it stands for, so they wanted to be part of
the action. This indicates a very healthy championship.
“To all the teams that competed this year, I say thank you. Thank you for your
passion and dedication to the series. We know you have fun and we at SRO will
ensure that the series maintains its core principals of a convivial racing environment
and an excellent calendar.”
the FIA and numerous other national sporting authorities and sanctioning bodies.
BLANCPAIN ENDURANCE SERIES HISTORY
Launched in 2011 the Blancpain Endurance Series is the result of twenty years of motorsport experience built by the SRO
Motorsport Group.
The recipe for 2011 was quite simple : to bring GT3 cars to endurance racing, by setting up a convivial championship
which met the requirements and expectations of teams and drivers alike.
Simplicity, technical competence, a rigorous sporting environment, excellent organisation, an attractive calendar and top
quality TV production allowing pan-European live broadcasts : these were the priorities of the first season.
In 2012, in full acceleration, this new reference in GT racing, which has quickly become known as the ‘Blancpain’ in the
paddocks, has moved to a new level. More competitors, more diversity, more events…
As a reflection of their prestigious title sponsor’s market position, the race meetings have become a cosmopolitan public
relations platform, exclusive and convivial, built around a stable programme of complementary series, racing at the most
beautiful European circuits.

04. 2012 SEASON REVIEW
REGULATION OVERVIEW
REGULATIONS.
Based heavily on the FIA regulations, and with the successful balance of performance (BOP) guidelines, the Blancpain Endurance Series has a proven formula for
ensuring a level playing field is maintained, despite the vast array of marques and performance characteristics of the cars.
SCRUTINEERING.
As ever, scrutineering is strictly policed and enforced, and it will be the same for 2013. This process has been developed and streamlined through experience gained over
previous seasons and from SRO’s involvement in International motorsport.
TESTING.
Private testing on any circuit which will host an Event is forbidden as from 28 days before the beginning of that Event, and until the date scheduled for that Event.
HOMOLOGATED CARS.
In 2012 the Homologated cars in Pro & Pro-Am Categories are the FIA GT3 cars in conformity wit the latest FIA Homologation (2011/2012) as well as the GT3 cars under
temporary RACB homologation for cars under development. In the Gentlemen Category all the FIA GT3 cars with older specifications and models for the trophy class are
accepted.
For 2013 all the FIA GT3 cars in conformity with the latest FIA Homologation (2011/2012/2013) will be accepted in all categories.
LICENCE REQUIREMENT AND DRIVER GRADES.
All drivers must hold a racing licence of at least International C grade. Drivers are categorised Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze according to their experience and
successes.
“Platinum” drivers being professionals, “Bronze” drivers being amateurs, typically amateur drivers can be paired with Platinum, Gold or Silver graded drivers. Other
combination may be considered and will be subject to the sporting regulations.
TRANSPONDER & DATA LOGGER.
For 2012 each car will be fitted with a data logger and a transponder, which will indicate which driver is in the car during sessions, making easier for the fans to follow
during weekends. The same systems will be used for 2013.
FORMAT.
The 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series has been the headline event throughout the season, with a race format creating excitement and interest for teams, fans, and media
alike. Typically the two-day event format has been (and will remain the same for 2013):
THURSDAY Access to the Paddock and Boxes / Set-Up
FRIDAY Team Set-up / Administrative & Scrutineering Checks
SATURDAY Bronze Test 1 x 60 mins Test exclusively reserved for Bronze Drivers
SATURDAY Free Practice 1 x 90 mins
SATURDAY Pre-Qualifying between 60 mins to 90 mins
SUNDAY Qualifying 3 x 15 mins
in all categories, except if it is a two-driver line-up, where the bronze driver will have to drive one hour and fifty minutes.
All cars must use the tyre manufacturer chosen at the beginning of the season. For 2012, Michelin was the unique tyre manufacturer (except if particular contract and
approval of SRO). Each car is restricted to 5 new set of tyres at the first event. At the following rounds, each team is allowed to have 4 set of tyres,There is no restriction
on the number of wet-weather tyres. All cars must run on a control fuel supplied through Total.

Over 275 years of tradition in motion
Founded in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain, the watch brand bearing his name is the oldest in the
world. Blancpain is currently engaged in a long-term commitment to the renewal of mechanical
watchmaking and to passing on exceptional expertise from one generation to the next through constant
investment in human resources, production facilities and research.
From the creation of components through to watch design, Blancpain is distinguished by its ability to
develop exceptional movements. Over the past seven years, the Manufacture in Le Brassus has indeed
developed no less than 22 new calibres.
Through its various models, Blancpain preserves its heritage of precision and elegance, while also
displaying an innovative and occasionally provocative spirit. Its range encompasses the daring Levolution
line, the legendary Fifty Fathoms diver’s watch, as well as the classic Villeret collection and the
Blancpain Women models.
The sports enthusiasts’ watch: Chronographe Flyback à Rattrapante Grande Date
While remaining loyal to its fundamental values, Blancpain quite naturally associates with the world of
fine automotive mechanical engineering, since the key values of precision, reliability and sturdiness are
required and shared by both cars and watches.
The bezel, caseback, dial and even the cap of the folding clasp are all made of carbon fibre and
represent technical accomplishments vividly reflecting Blancpain’s innovative strength. To highlight the
sporting nature of the new L-evolutionR, a digital font displays the large date as well as the 3 and 9
o’clock numerals, while the shape of the pushpiece at 8 o’clock resembles a fuel tank cap.
When the chronograph is in action, the movement with its column wheel and vertical coupling-clutch
ensures excellent precision. Two major horological complications offer additionally useful functions: the
split-second chronograph enables a split-time read-off, while the flyback function serves to instantly reset
and restart the chronograph.
The black alcantara strap is equipped with carbon fibre inserts evoking the latest technological
evolutions in racing car design.

HEXIS Group: quality and performance
HEXIS is a leading European manufacturer of self-adhesive films used for sign making, vehicle marking and surface
treatment. The company specialises in adhesive coating and has developed a unique process to produce high performance
cast films.
HEXIS Group permanently expands and is now structured into domains as divers as visual communication, antimicrobial
protection, modular construction and energy drinks.
In each domain HEXIS has pioneered new technologies that make human interaction with the technical and natural
environment safer and more enjoyable.
The company was incorporated in 1989 and is still presided by its founder, Michel MATEU. The group head office is located in
Frontignan, near Montpellier in France, and owns subsidiaries in the French West Indies, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and
the USA with affiliate HEXIS companies in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK.
Today HEXIS exports over 40% of its sales to some 50 countries worldwide with consistent growth rates of 25% every year.
HEXIS is represented at all the major professional exhibitions for sign making and visual communication: FESPA, ISA Las
Vegas, Sign Business & Digital Graphics Long Beach, VISCOM France and VISCOM Germany.
In recent years, HEXIS has received numerous prizes and awards acknowledging the company’s continued growth and
innovative entrepreneurship.
HEXIS and motor sport: a longstanding commitment
HEXIS Racing was founded in 2001-2002 by Michel MATEU, President of the HEXIS Group. The stable was born out of his
passion for car racing which combines technique, quality, performance and innovation. HEXIS Racing was then created as a
powerful marketing tool to promote HEXIS both on the national and international scales.
From 2007 to 2011, the team officially carried the Aston Martin Racing colours: in 2009, HEXIS Racing became HEXIS AMR.
Over the years, the British brand became the team’s privileged partner, running Aston Martin DBR9s (GT1) and DBRS9s
(GT3) and became, in 2011, the FIA GT1 World Team Champion.
In 2012, the team changed and is now working with the prestigious brand McLaren. After a year of experience with this new
icon, the team secured its well-known experience in motorsport and was crowned 2012 FIA GT1 World Vice Team Champion.
In close cooperation with the HEXIS Graphics Division, HEXIS AMR has perfected a technique whereby vehicle body panels
are covered in vinyl film instead of paint for a noticeable weight reduction, thus achieving fuel savings and faster laps!
Finally, HEXIS has entered a major partnership with the SRO Motorsports Group to supply all adhesive media and provide the
necessary technical assistance. Over the years, the association with SRO has reinforced HEXIS’ commitment to motorsports
and confirms their position as a provider of adhesive solutions for race cars.
