«AFTER SPEAKING TO THEM, THE LORD JESuS wAS TAKEN uP INTO HEAVEN
AND TOOK HIS PLAcE AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD»
Today, in this solemnity, what is being offered to us, as we have never ever been able to imagine before,
is a Word of Salvation. Our Lord Jesus has not only resurrected, defeating death and sin, but He has also been
taken up into the glory of God! This is why, the path of return to the Father, that path we had lost and that opens
up to us in the mystery of Christmas, has been today irrevocably offered to us, after Christ, on the Cross, offered
himself totally to the Father.
Offered? Yes, offered. Because the Lord Jesus Christ, before being taken up into Heaven, has sent his
beloved disciples, the Apostles, forth to invite all men to believe in Him, so that they can reach where He is.
«Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation. The one who believes and is baptized
will be saved» (Mk 16:15-16).
The salvation we are finally given consists in living God’s life, as St. John mentions in his Gospel: «Now
this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ» (Jn
17:3).
But, whatever is given with love must be accepted in love to be received as a gift. Therefore, Jesus Christ,
whom we have never seen, wants us to offer him our love through our faith, which we receive by listening to
his ministers, whom we can indeed see and listen to. «We believe in Him, whom we have not seen. Those who
have seen him, have announced him (...). He who has promised is faithful and never fails: boost your confidence
and await his promise (...) keep your faith strong!» (St. Augustine). If faith is an offer of love for Jesus Christ,
to keep it and make it grow, will also increase our charity within us.

LA AScENSIóN DE JESuS A LOS cIELOS
En un momento en que no fue bien comprendida la teología del evangelio de Marcos y se consideró inapropiado
el final que presentaba, parece ser que añadieron los versículos últimos (9 al 20) en los que se inscribe la presente
perícopa. (Se trata del llamado “final canónico de Marcos”). Este final, pues, es un conjunto de noticias extraídas de
los relatos pascuales de los otros evangelios.
Pero con la resurrección y ascensión de Jesús, la “historia” del evangelio no ha llegado al final; al contrario:
ahora se amplía el horizonte (“a todo el mundo”, “a todos los hombres”, “a toda la creación”: Mc 13, 10; 14,9). Por
todas partes tienen los discípulos que anunciar la buena noticia.
La ascensión en sí misma no es descrita; únicamente se afirma la “acogida” de Jesús en el cielo, interpretada
teológicamente en relación al salmo 110: entronización del mesías-rey, que entra en su señorío. La ascensión significó
primeramente lo mismo que “muerte-resurrección-glorificación”. En cualquier caso, su significado teológico es lo más
importante a resaltar, habida cuenta, como se ha dicho, que en ningún lugar se describe la ascensión en sí misma.
Sí es importante, sin embargo, tener en cuenta lo que se recalca: que terminada la misión de Jesús en el mundo,
ha de comenzar la misión de sus discípulos. Estos han de predicar y hacer lo mismo que su Maestro.
Aparece aquí la fórmula “Señor Jesús”, que constituye el núcleo más originario del símbolo de la fe cristiana.
En esta fórmula se confiesa que Jesús, el hijo de María, que padeció bajo Poncio Pilato, es el Señor resucitado. Ese
Jesús es, pues, Dios, igual al Padre, pero también de un modo diferente, porque todo lo recibe del que todo lo tiene.
Por eso, también está escrito que su nombre es el Hijo (Heb 1,4). Y cuando los creyentes nos dirigimos al Padre en
nombre de Jesús, esto es mucho más que ampararnos en sus méritos (Heb 5,9) o valernos de su poderosa intercesión
(Heb 7,25): en el nombre de Jesús nos presentamos como hijos, sabiendo que Dios nos abraza en el mismo amor paterno
que tiene a su muy amado (Ef 1,6).

LA DEVOCION A LA DIVINA MISERICORDIA será el próximo domingo

ENTRONIZACION. El próximo domingo 27 de mayo, el Sr. George
Lamoureux y su esposa, estarán con nosotros para un fin de semana de entronización,
donde se les dará la oportunidad a los feligrese de entronar en sus
casas al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y consagra a sus familias al Inmaculado
Corazón de María. Es es una maravillosa manera de terminar el mes de mayo.

Jesús, Sacerdote eterno, guarda a estos
siervos en el recinto de tu Corazón,
donde nadie pueda hacerles daño al-
guarda inmaculadas sus manos consagradas
que a diario tocan tu Sagrado Cuerpo;
guarda sin mancha esos corazones sellados con
