Bach Musica NZ in 2012
2013 Programme Highlights
Bach Musica NZ will move to the Auckland Town Hall for three
major concerts: Handel’s Messiah in Mozart’s arrangement,
Mendelssohn’s beautiful oratorio St Paul and Bach’s Christmas
Oratorio performed in the original German.
We proudly present a concert titled Wonderful Women that
includes several NZ premières by female composers from around
the world.
A very special treat, not to be missed, is our Bach’s Mass in B
Minor in the stunning acoustic of the Baradene Concert Hall. The
concert also features Samuel Jacobs, principal horn of the NZSO,
in Mozart’s Horn Concerto No 2. Mendelssohn’s oratorio St Paul
is equally as beautiful as the composer’s better known Elijah.
We are delighted to present internationally renowned soloists:
German baritone Christoph von Weitzel in the title role, NZ’s
own soprano Patricia Wright and Australia’s David Hamilton, our
stunning Evangelist from last year.
We will conclude our 2013 Subscription Series with Bach’s festive
Christmas Oratorio preceded by Corelli’s Christmas Concerto.
